Re: Muscle Driver "No Limits" Clock

I refused for the longest time to get a clock for our gym, but now that I have the "No Limit" clock - I love it. The two color indeed is cool - makes me want to program more intervals just to see the...

Re: VFF alternatives

Going barefoot is the cheapest. I actually switched to that and love it. Start by doing short easy 100-200 m runs & it'll build up fast & nicely.

Shoewise though - I love Asics Onitsuka Tiger Tai...

Re: Non-False Grip Muscle Ups?

It helps to start loosening up the False Grip by a bit.

Do a couple MU's with FG. Then slip the grip half an inch and do a couple. Then slip it 1/2 inch more & do it (basically you'll just have a...

Re: Looking for inexpensive fight/board shorts

Ross would be my choice. You can usually find board shorts there for 10-20 bucks & I bought a pair of fight shorts for under 20.

Re: Again Faster Rev Rope

James - a couple guys at my gym got them & I've tried them out. They're definitely real nice & are great quality jump ropes.

The wire seem to be coated with something which makes the rope a tad...

Re: 5:2 programming - where to find?

We've been doing 5 on/2 off for over a year now. See if you like it & may be it'll fit your needs.

Re: 6 foot, 215 pounds , and struggling to do muscle ups.

At our gym there's at least a dozen guys over 200 lbs who can do them.

3 guys can do deadhang MU's @ 230+. Half a dozen can do deadhang at 200+.
I've been able to do them deadhang at 230, now at 200...

Re: Paleo for dogs!

Hey guys.

I'm getting a pitbull puppy today (8 weeks old) & don't want to feed it any conventional meat.

I already have a bag of the Orijen Puppy stuff, but now was thinking of avoiding any kibble...

Re: wait wut?

Aaron - in this case - you're right. But there's many other great CF'ers who might not qualify through Individual (Ricky Frausto, Dave Lipson, Pat Barber etc) who's gym's team might be going. And...

Re: Leaning Out, Losing Strength

I've gone from 220 to 198-200 in the past year - because the process was so slow - I didn't lose any strength/power at all & gained quite a bit actually.

Re: wait wut?

Scott - yeah. This way if some folks won't make through individual competition but they have an affiliate team going to the games - they can swap members of the team. Pretty neat system actually to...

Re: Is your affiliate open for members to work out on their own?

never during the weekdays.

We do have an Open Gym on Saturdays from 9 am to 11am-noon where members can do whatever they like - usually they work on skills/strength or catch up on a WoD they've...

Re: Essential Certs

None of the certs are essential in my opinion except for Level 1.

To become a better coach - you must coach a lot first, then as you find gaps in your knowledge - bring them up.

If you see that...

Re: what do you do when your box is empty?

Sam - our lunch class is very busy too & we do have showers but generally only 1 or 2 people take showers out of 10-15 in the class so I wouldn't say that showers are the ultimate decision maker.

Re: What's your warmup?

Since I train about 3-4 hrs each day - the previous training session is a warm-up for the next. The first training session - it depends what I do. Usually it's strength training so I warm-up with the...

Re: Just fruit for breakfast?

Me personally - I'd rather fast than have fruit by itself. I'll perform well fasted, but I will fall into a insulin coma after just fruit.

Re: Rings - Difference between wood & metal?

Rogue's regular wood ones are my favorite. Not a huge fan of gymnastic spec ones since I'm 6'3" and my hands are a bit bigger than normal.

Re: Three-a-days possible with enough rest/food?

It's very possible. If you're a competitive CF'er at this point it's pretty much essential to be doing 2-a-days (or at least one longer session with combos of various work).
