Re: Home gym suggestions

How about a rope? You can use it for battle rope exercises, or attach it to your sled for seated or standing sled pulls.

Re: Regional OVERALL rankings

Flo Elite has a regional superboard:

wfs

This leaderboard is like the Open: 1 point for first, 2 points for 2nd, 3...

Re: Is Crossfit HQ to harsh on some and lets some slide a bit

I like the system of assessing major and minor penalties rather than a pass/fail system.

I think for video reviews that assess a penalty for athletes that are going to Regionals, and for Masters...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I think disqualifying the whole team is an overly harsh penalty for one person refusing to take a drug test. Then again, Laura Phelps-Sweatt is the affiliate manager, so her actions are going to...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

CrossFit HQ lays down the hammer with their drug test policy, disqualifying a whole team because 1 member refused to take a drug test:

From games.crossfit.com (wfs)

CrossFit has banned Laura...

Re: Looking for shoe input and suggestions

I have Nano 5 and Nano 2. I like the 5s much better. The Nano 5 has a really thin tongue, but the tongue is secured to the sides of the shoe. This gives it a lot of lateral stability.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

It is interesting to compare Becca Voigt's finishes in the Regional with Dan Bailey's:

Becca: 8-6-9-5-5-1-10 = 542 points, 2nd place

Dan: 8-6-10-7-2-9-9 = 519 points, 7th place

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Lots of awesome stuff during the first week of Regionals.

Kara Webb absolutely crushed the workouts. Hopefully this will be a good year for her at the Games.

Tia-Clair Toomey and Alethea Boon also...

Re: A Bears Tale

I am thinking of switching to Comp Train Masters. 36th this year and 40th last year. Just need to be a little bit better to make it.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

The problem with the Stub Hub Center is that the Tennis Stadium is too small for the marquee events, and the soccer stadium is too huge.

I think they could move the Games to a venue that has an...

West Regionals are in Portland OR where I live, so I will definitely be going to watch.

Re: Garage Gym Questions

Agree with what the other posters have said. You can buy a good, quality bar from Rogue for a reasonable price. Their Echo bar is $195, the Ohio bar is $282. They have lots of different options...

Re: Master Qual

That may be true about the OHS. The transition from front rack to back rack can be a bit dicey. When I do heavy OHS from the ground, I'll just power clean, and then jerk from the front rack and go...

Re: Master Qual

Thanks, Vic - congrats to you and all the Masters Qualifiers. Top 200 in the world is no easy feat.

The pattern, if any, for the MQ looks to me like a 1rm of an Olympic lift variation, a short,...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I think Noah Olsen and Annie Thorisdottir will win 16.5.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

My guess for 16.5 is a 10min amrap of

5 ring muscle ups
10 thrusters 95-115-135-165-185-225
15 box jump overs

Each round the thrusters increase in weight. Scaled version will not have muscle ups,...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

If there is going to be a repeat workout this year, it is going to repeat one of the movements we've already seen.

I still think 14.5 (thrusters and burpees) and 15.5 (thrusters and rowing) are...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

My predictions for 16.4 and 16.5 are:

16.4: A chipper with WB, DL, BJ and HSPU. After introducing HSPU in the Open last year, and using them so heavily in the Regionals and Games, I think Castro...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

My thoughts on 16.3:

I don't think Castro's clues of the shotgun or the abstract painting had anything to do with the workout. It seems to me like he just really likes to have fun dropping clues...

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

The "Double Jackie" we had in the 2015 Masters Qualifier was a brutal workout:

2 rounds for time of:
1,000-meter row
50 thrusters
30 chest-to-bar pull-ups

Men use 65 lb.
Women use 45 lb.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I watched the video of Kara Webb doing 16.2 in 15:07. She did the first 2 rounds in a little over 4 minutes. Such a fast pace on the first 2 rounds of cleans. Amazing! That score is going to be...

DL+TTB+HSPU

That's my guess for 16.2

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I saw Castro's instagram post about penalizing Opex for using small metal plates to make bar-facing burpees easier.

I agree with the penalty. It was definitely done to make the burpees...
