Re: What would you do?

My own personal opinion is that contracts for gym memberships are counter-productive.

You can't promise that you will also have good coaches (as defined by the client), that the client will get...

Re: USAW or CrossFit Weightlifting Course

I took both courses, found them to be essentially the same. There's a slight difference in some of the terminology and the emphasis placed on each phase of the lift, but Coach Bergener used to teach...

Re: Zone vs Renaissance Diet

This is not true at all. That is one of the easiest general ways to apply the Zone diet. An even more general way Dr. Sears mentions is the pick a piece of meat that is no bigger than the palm of...

Re: Zone diet question

Phillip, the Zone diet focuses on maintaining macro-nutrients in sufficient quantities to support one's lean body mass (muscle+bones+organs, not fat). It is the only diet I know of that specifically...

Re: Domain Name for Sale = IP Theft?

Do my eyes deceive me or did you list a (pending) qualification for which you haven't attended the seminar yet?

If that's the case, I need to update my signature/qualification information...

Re: Superman Food! Pepita

Scott, do you have a random content generator that spits out nonsensical comments and threads in an effort to promote your consulting business?

Re: Reducing Member Churn Rates

I personally detest contracts both as a coach and a client. Boxes change clients, schedules, or, even worse, they stay the same despite the changing/advancing needs of their clients. Requiring (or...

Re: Active Military

FYI, It's illegal for non-gov to make any type of copy (including scanning) military ID. We military are also not allowed to provide a copy to any non-gov. There are plenty of ways to prove...

They are judging masters and/or teams, right?

Re: Level 1 Certification Course Staff

Whoa, Sean, major typo on my part. I meant that one has to be on the Level 1 staff in order to judge at the Games (not Regionals). If being on the Level 1 staff is a prereq for judging, then...

Re: Active Military

I would recommend that your son go to http://www.google.com and search for the following terms: "CrossFit certification military discount". I would then recommend that your son click on the first...

Re: Level 1 Certification Course Staff

I know plenty of Level 1 staff who haven't been to regionals. I also know many who don't have their CSCS. Finally, you have to already be on the level 1 staff in order to judge at regionals...so...

Re: Looking for Female L1 Coaches for short term contract

David,

CrossFit isn't only in the US. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has absolutely no authority over businesses in Saudi Arabia. Heck, they don't even have any authority over...

Re: Coaches - Working Out

Asking coaches to work out in the classes is a great idea but you can't charge coaches for something you are requiring them to participate in. Not only is it unfair, it seems like it would make one...

Hi Kelly,

Would you (or someone equally as helpful) update my location from Portsmouth, VA to San Marcos, CA?

Thanks,

Re: Veterens Affairs (VA)

Sorry man, can't happen. The VA doesn't pay for courses like this, only the certificate test. CrossFit doesn't pay separately for the certificate test so there is no way for you to get reimbursed...

Transgender woman sues CrossFit to compete as a woman

Article (http://www.kcra.com/national/transgender-woman-sues-crossfit-for-25m/24855016) (SFW)

Somehow I think this issue is going to come up more rather than less as time goes on. In my mind, it's...

Re: KStarr Vs. CrossFit?

I completely agree, Russell. Kelly is very focused on the muscular structures surrounding the knee and hip joints but pushing one's knees out to the extreme shown and described in the book seems...

Re: Coaches Sleeping With Coaches/Clients -- How to Handle?

Rachel,

In my humble opinion, that is absolutely unacceptable behavior. Fraternization between coaches can be bad for business (what happens when they break up?) but fraternization between coaches...

Re: USAW Cert - now what?

Kristian,

I wouldn't advertise this too much. Here are CrossFit's training requirements:

This sounds to me like non-L1 coaches are allowed to assist with a class but not lead it on their own. ...

Re: Question about CrossFit on The Biggest Loser show

I'm confident that CrossFit Inc. could afford it if they wanted it. The question is, do they need it? CrossFit seems to be doing pretty well so far without a major TV advertising budget.

Re: Question about CrossFit on The Biggest Loser show

Product placement makes the networks BIG MONEY on shows like that. I'm pretty confident that CrossFit won't pay the big bucks that Walmart and Walgreens lay down just to be mentioned. I saw Katie...
