Re: Need travel shoe recommendation

Jeff,
I probably won't be doing any heavy oly work, as most travel gyms I've found frown on them. Any issue with heavy squatting in 230s? No issue with doing lighter squats in vibrams but after...

I travel a lot for work recently. When at home I like to squat and oly lift in my rogue do-wins and do everything else in my vibrams, but traveling with multiple shoes just for exercising is getting...

Re: For those rolling with PVC pipes

John I do roll my lower back with it, but when I do I try to have a slight side tilt so I am hitting the musculature to the side of the spine, not the spine itself

Re: For those rolling with PVC pipes

I found that rolling on a carpet/rug helps a lot vs a hard surface

Re: Foam rollers

I got a 4" by 2' pvc pipe at the local hardware store for 5 bucks. It works way better than "foam" rollers in my experience, but did take some time to get used to.

Re: wondering if you've ever seen this before...

I've done that once or twice before during a Max Effort Deadlift/Squat. I think the straining does it.

Re: Can't a cheat meal kill most of your results?

I cant say that a cheat meal has ever significantly affected my performance, but a cheat binge with booze definitely has. I can feel the effects of the binge for a few days after in my muscular...

Re: Wendler 5-3-1, deload, and mobility work

Brian and Tommy,
Thanks for the help. My mobility is not terrible, but it could be better. T-spine and shoulder are fine. My main problem is hip mobility at the bottom of the squat. I have been...

Re: Wendler 5-3-1, deload, and mobility work

Clint,
I drop all assistance work except for back work, since they major lift really don't hit the back much. I do drop the weight on those to about 1/2 and stick with 5 sets.

Re: Wendler 5-3-1, deload, and mobility work

Sean, I'm wondering if should I do more, less, the same amount, or doesnt it really matter.

Judging by your response, I would lean towards doesn't really matter.

Wendler 5-3-1, deload, and mobility work

For those of you doing Wendler, what do you do with your mobility work during deload weeks.

I have two conflicting gut feelings
1) I have extra time since I'm not lifting as much, so I should do...

Re: New to Wendler and some questions

It took me a while to get the balance, and my right leg deadlifts are definitely more stable than my left leg. Left leg I usually have 1 or 2 extra reps due balance issue preventing a good rep.

Re: New to Wendler and some questions

Last deadlift work out was 95 for 7 reps then 85,80,75 (the last three all for 10 reps). I have been dropping down a set from 5 to 4 when doing unilateral stuff, just to reduce the overall time in...

Re: New to Wendler and some questions

I really have been liking one legged deadlifts for my past few 5-3-1 cycles. I have been trying a unilateral/dumbell (for the presses) variant of boring but big assistance work and have been making...

Re: New to Wendler and some questions

Tyler,
Being at 10 reps, as Blair mentioned, was pretty common for me in the beginning. I'm 8 cycles in now and I've dropped to around 7 as I've pushed over my previous 5 rep max for the standing...
