Re: There's a cheater in my box!

I don't think you can "just let it go" - especially if others are aware that you're aware.

What we've done: Instead of announcing ahead of time that you're having "group A" count and "group B"...

Re: CrossFit Confluence in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette!

Jamie,

The reporter declined the offer, and I actually haven't seen him around much lately. But there was a lot of chatter in the neighborhood about it - people asking me about the gym at the...

Re: CrossFit Confluence in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette!

Yeah, start slow and taper off certainly doesn't fit the mold. On the fun side of things, we had our members pull movements out of a hopper to create a new WOD we call "Fancy Priced Suffering" - in...

Re: Take a chance?

From my experience - start small. We've been going for 7 months in 900sqft and supporting about 30 members. It definitely gets crowded at times, but all that does is support the community feel....

Re: CrossFit Confluence in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette!

Thanks Jason - Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Terry, but Patrick (other owner) was telling me about him. I'm definitely jealous of the CrossFit Transformation t-shirt that he swapped with him...

Re: CrossFit Confluence in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette!

Very true Jamie. I extended an invite to him and his wife to join us for some one-on-one intro training and a group class or two... I don't think he's accepting. However, he did offer to forward my...

CrossFit Confluence in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette!

CrossFit Confluence was referenced in an article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette yesterday. We weren't mentioned by name, but I met the journalist one day and he said he might be including us in an...

Re: Dress Shoes

Those Clarks are nice looking, but drivers probably wouldn't fly with a suit...

I've always been a Johnston and Murphy fan myself. They have a variety of shoes from casual to VERY formal, and...

Or how you'll finish Karen in half the time, then do part of everyone else's wall-balls too...

Re: PLEASE HELP me prove this CF hater wrong..

I started reading the thread, but then noticed a trend occuring very quickly. Explain to your friend that if an athletes goal is to compete in 110m Hurdles

3x10 Pec Deck < CrossFit < Hurdle...

Re: Pittsburgh/Robinson Crossfit

Nick - We have a client or two that come in from Robinson regularly. I thought it would be a difficult commute too, but its only 10-15 minutes if you avoid the tunnels.

To your other question;...

Re: A Christian CrossFit?

They're certainly welcome... but there's a good chance that they would no longer be lazy and eating twinkies if they stuck with it.

Re: A Christian CrossFit?

There are already places of worship and prayer, and there are already CrossFit gyms to train in - what's the problem with offering a place where both can occur? If there's a market, the business will...

Re: A Christian CrossFit?

I know this question is to Jamie, but I'll bite:

The CrossFit community tends to exclude lazy, unmotivated people who don't seek continuous improvement in their physical fitness. I don't see...

Re: A Christian CrossFit?

For what it's worth, we have stickers on our squat rack that praise Jesus. I'm a Christian, and have no issues with having our athletes be aware of that.... Granted, we don't have bible studies or...

Re: What is this "Reliv" stuff??

Maybe I wasn't clear in my post... I'm in NO WAY endorsing this stuff or thinking about using it.

I currently eat about 85% paleo and am very happy with it. Convincing my parents they don't need...

Re: What is this "Reliv" stuff??

Well, I'm skeptical of it for that reason and many others. I was looking to see if anyone has any experience with it, or knows of family members that have used it?

What is this "Reliv" stuff??

My mom started taking this stuff called "Reliv" a while ago, and now has become a "distributor". She's pitched this stuff to my dad, grandma, and even my little brother. I read the nutrition info,...

Re: "Cooking" the un-paleo way

Problem is, "basic" cooking skills are becoming "push the chicken nugget button" as opposed to learning how to poach an egg or steam broccoli.

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Sorry... 7'4" with heels on.

I'm in Cali until next Friday, then Canada the following weekend, then India in April. That's not to say you can't stop by, but the chances of me being there are slim.
