Clean and Power Jerk

Hey does anyone have any general tips for improving this lift. I'm not competing in weightlifting and I have decent technique but I just want to hear some tips that have helped you guys with the C&J....

Re: Why American Swings?

When your shoulders are sore from swings, there's a problem. All the power should come from the hips, not the upper body by any means at all. Russian swing is better IMO than the American because you...

Re: The Importance of Strength in Olympic Weightlifting and Other Power Output Activi

Just because I quoted Rip doesn't mean I agree with everything he says. For example, I wouldn't prescribe low bar squats for an olympic lifter and of course one would have to practice the full oly...

Re: The Importance of Strength in Olympic Weightlifting and Other Power Output Activi

Calm down, do you think Mark Rippetoe is the only person who thinks strength matters a great deal in the sport of olympic weightlifting?

On a different note, people give Rip a lot of crap about his...

Re: The Importance of Strength in Olympic Weightlifting and Other Power Output Activi

I understand where your coming from, it seems that most people who don't have the experience get into the olympic lifts and then abandon the slow lifts finding themselves stalling on the snatch and...

Re: The Importance of Strength in Olympic Weightlifting and Other Power Output Activi

If you had a 400lb squat, you'd become a better olympic lifter. If your squat number increased in general, you'd become a better olympic lifter. How do you think the top olympic lifters can squat...

Re: The Importance of Strength in Olympic Weightlifting and Other Power Output Activi

Re: The Importance of Strength in Olympic Weightlifting and Other Power Output Activi

Does it? There are plenty of interviews stating what I've said. The truth is metcons heavy or not is not enough for one to gain the most strength possible since the limiting factor will always be...

The Importance of Strength in Olympic Weightlifting and Other Power Output Activities

I feel in the US, we have a tendency to overlook strength and get caught up with the speed and technique aspect of olympic lifting too early. Of course technique is everything in whatever you do...

Re: Who has a stronger upper body a gymnast or weightlifter/powerlifter?

If you had different upper body events (kinda like crossfit but strength not cardio) that included relative, absolute and speed strength, who would come out on top? Also I disagree oly lifters have...

Re: Deadlifts and Weighted Dips

I found that I was missing days on the squat deadlift and pp program due to my sport. So in other words, I would go a week or two without hitting a lift. I like the idea of picking two lifts and...

Deadlifts and Weighted Dips

I read an interesting article on super-minimalistic training. It only consisted of two exercises (deadlifts and dips). I wrote a post earlier about subbing dips with planche pushups however I stuck...
