Re: CrossFit Camp Pendleton

What unit were you with at the 52 area? I was a 2/5 Marine from San Mateo myself. :)

Re: When 3 days on, 1 off or 5 on, 2 off doesn't work

I take random rest days myself, which means I could be a day or so behind on the WOD at any given time. For example, during yesterday I worked out on the rest day and did the WOD from the day before....

Cindy vs Mary

Just wondering as I did Cindy and hit another PR a few days ago, but when the choice comes up of Cindy vs Mary, what time should you think about switching over? Is there a certain standard range...

Re: How Important is Appearance in Training

A better example would be Fedor Emelianenko. If you've ever watched this guy workout, he's an absolute beast. Runs 10 miles a day, high altitude training, sport specific hours a day of grappling,...

How Important is Appearance in Training

I am wondering how important you all think that personal appearance is in marketing personal training and in being a successful coach. The reason I ask is that I am getting my CPT certifications and...

GI Bill for certifications

I am wondering if anyone out there knows the answer to this, since I am having trouble searching through the pain that is the VA's website.

I'm a 4 year Marine Corps active duty veteran currently...

Re: How much of a calorie imbalance?

Okay sorry, I can see that I really was too vague. So I guess let me fill in a little more details.

July of 2008 I weighed 243 lbs and then I got back into doing crossfit and MMA training again.

How much of a calorie imbalance?

Okay, I know from reading Breyers and many of the other threads, that it is possible to eat too little. And that if you're not eating enough, you're not going to see the same loss of body fat that...

Re: Anabolic Diet - My Progress

I'm wondering, has anyone had success with slightly higher ratios of carbs? Say in the 75-100 net carbs a day range?

Carb Cycling

I've used the search function and can't seem to dig up too much. Can someone explain the general concepts and science (or anecdotal evidence) behind the idea of a carbohydrate 'refeeding' 'reloading'...

Re: who here has fought

At my gym, they take very seriously not letting us fight before we are ready. Granted it's a new gym, but the coaches have proven experience and successful records so. The gym has been open a little...

Re: What do you pay for MMA classes?

At my gym, if you are serious about wanting to be a competitive fighter, and the coaches see you putting in the work and select you to join the fight camps (with the potential of making the decision...

Re: What do you pay for MMA classes?

I pay 170 a month for unlimited access to BJJ/Muy Thai/Judo/Boxing. All in all, there are a grand total of about 24 classes a week, if you went to every class they have available.

Re: Periodization

Since it was asked, a bit earlier. I took 4 days off, and when I came back to the gym I felt absolutely great. Completely refreshed and demonstrating noticably quicker work out times and drastically...

Re: What do you guys do?

I believe, though I could be wrong. That a midget is someone under a particular height limit, but otherwise normally built and proportioned. Whereas a dwarf has disproportionately short (often to the...

Re: Too Full During Feed Window

Well I've lost 30 lbs so far, so I must be doing something right.

Though looking back over my fitday reports, you are correct, I'm not taking in as much as I thought, I've been averaging...

Re: Too Full During Feed Window

Okay, so it sounds as if I need to have more nuts, and more butter and oil. :) I eat the occasional PB and J sandwich like anyone, but other than that I don't get a lot of nuts, never really liked...

Too Full During Feed Window

I tried searching the forums, unfortunately IF doesn't seem to be a term the search engine likes a lot. :)

Anyway, I have been on zone for a while now, and have been thinking about incorporating...

Re: What do you guys do?

I train Muy Thai, BJJ and Judo, with about once weekly regular boxing thrown in. I have competed in tournaments, and hope sometime late next year to have some amateur MMA fights.

Re: Gimono experiences/reviews

My coach said that 'back in the day', wearing a blue or black gi as a white belt was a pretty good way to get your butt handed to you for an entire class, and generally get mocked until you stopped...

Re: Pro Fighters doing CrossFit?

I've gotta agree with Allison, a lot of our conditioning sessions at my BJJ training is very similiar or almost identical to a CF style workout. Which I think is pretty hilarious, because both of my...

Re: Periodization

I'm 25 years old, I've come down to about 18-20 percent body fat and 207 lbs. I want to get down to about 190 walking around (for cutting to 185 for fights). So I've got about 17 more pounds to go...

Re: Periodization

My weight has been coming down and my lean muscle mass has been going up. I'm definitely making gains on PR's and in general body composition and fitness. I have typically been consuming between...

Periodization

Does anyone have any links or research on how often you should take rest (by which I mean not the ideal 8 hours a day of sleep, but the idea of occasionally taking days off from your routine) and...
