your thoracic spine is connected to your ribs, so if you have a vertebral body that is displaced it could also affect the rib associated with it. It sounds like you both have muscle strains/spasms...

Look up Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, stretch your pectorals, anterior delts and upper traps. Strengthen your upper back, rear delts and scapular stabilizers. good luck.

Well, are any of your myotomes (muscles inervated by specific nerve roots) affected? Do you lack strength in your core, you're going to want to do protective exercises to enhance posture and support...
