Re: Belt for weighted pull-ups?

I use a rope up to about 50 pounds. The rope is in a simple loop around my waist, the rope cinches to a 1" dowel rod that holds the weight.

Above that I put weight in a backpack.

A vest would...

Re: I hate Double Unders

Late to the part as usual. Double-unders. The last ingredient of the Crossfit 500. I understand your frustration but I don't think I have room to hate double-unders. My hatred of burpees is too...

Re: Best way to raise chickens for eggs

Julie and I kept a small flock of layers in a chicken tractor before we moved to the suburbs. See the book by Andy Lee. It worked well. If you move the tractor daily it prevents the manure from...

Re: Where to start with opera

John Seiler!?!?!?! Wow.

I saw Carmen at the Met some years ago. Until then I had no use for opera. KFUO (99.1) plays opera on Saturday afternoons but on the radio it's difficult to appreciate. ...

Re: I have absolutely no power

Be cool. Practice, practice, practice. Work on technique. Work light and learn to explode.

Wonder if I can I hang clean 160...maybe I should take my own advice...

Re: T-Nation article

Track events. Swimming. Automobile racing. Competitive eating.

I get what you are saying. But I grow weary of T-Nation v. Crossfit. The internet is big enough for the both of us. Each site...

Re: How to Slide Your Rings...

There are any number of overhead tracks you could use. Barn doors and hay lifts run on them, I'm sure you could find a way to attach your rings. This would make a separate structure from your...

Re: Muscle-ups

If you are lacking rings then do 4 of each. Otherwise I don't really understand the math of 4pu + 4dips = 1 mu. If you can do a pull-up and you can do a ring dip but you can't so a muscle up you...

Re: Coconut Oil

I think I was talking about Coconut oil with Kelly Moore one time. I thought she said she was eating it by the spoonful. That's a bit hardcore for me.

I use it to cook eggs and veggies. I read...

Re: how did you find crossfit?

Men's Health article years ago about 100 best fitness sites mentioned the Murph. It was in line with what I was already doing so lurked for a month then tried my first workout on 11/30/2005. It...

Re: Home pull up bars or sub...

Jump off that bridge when you come to it. Throw mud at the hole, let it dry and sand it smooth. It's much easier to repair drywall than to replace damaged wood trim.

Re: A gallon of milk?

I don't think raw milk is illegal, just selling it. Goats need less food/space than dogs...though wal-mart doesn't sell hay. If you have a yard you might give it a try. In some states, farmers get...

Re: Pull-up Bar Diameter

Brian,
A 2x8 fascia is pretty beefy but I would be cautious of hanging and swinging from it. But If that was the option I would run a 48" pipe with an elbow, a short nipple and a flange at each...

Re: Wood plyo boxes, any covering for bottom edges?

They will break down quickly only if they are constantly wet. Sand the bottom edge with 60, 100 then 200 grit sandpaper on a sanding block (cover a block of wood so you are sanding with a flat...

Strikes me that Coach Rut had 1.5" or 2" diameter pull-up bars at his facility. At first that seemed huge but after 50 or so reps I could see what he was saying about the larger diameter being...

What is outside? Do you have a deck, stairs, carport or anything you could hang a pull-up bar or rings from? Playground equipment? Looks like it's warm in Murray.

If I had to choose I think I...

Re: My Pet Peeve as a Female

Ladie's bar? Shoot. Nobody told me. It's just a really handy bar to have around.

It is nice to put 25# plates on either side and have my 65# for OHS or Snatch. Especially since I don't have...

Re: looking for crossfit in Missouri

2 in St. Louis?!?!? There are at least 2 dozen that I know of that CF regularly and another 2 dozen who at least dabble. Double that if you expand to the bi-state area.

I think Chris Forbis is...
