Re: Strange Mid-Back Pain

If you dont have one already you might want to grab a 3 or 4 in PVC pipe for deeper rolling pleasure. Often times a 6in foam roller is too gentle... especially for the back. Tilt to the side to focus...

Re: The bacon thread

The wife made bacon-wrapped, cheese-filled meatloaf a couple of days ago. OM NOM NOM. We had guests over and there were various proclamations such as marriage proposal and intercourse with the meat...

Re: Is ART/Trigger Point Therapy effective for Shoulder Impingement?

The move your talking about looks like it forces internal rotation of the shoulder. The damaged muscles would be the external rotators of the humerus (infraspinatus, posterior deltoid, teres minor)....

Re: Squats - hip drive

"Drive your hips up" is not a description of the biomechanical movement. It is a coaching cue that overwhelmingly gets people to move the right way. If there is excessive knee movement then the TUBOW...

Re: Peeps VS Girl Scout Cookies....the challenge

Re: Tax on soft drinks to blunt the obesity epidemic?

One of the major subsidies is free healthcare, but I dont really see what you can do about that. Basically anyone can walk into a hospital and receive free healthcare. What can you do? Ask for their...

Re: Tax on soft drinks to blunt the obesity epidemic?

Yes, that is correct. The constitution also proclaims your freedom to throw yourself in a chipper-shredder if you think it most benefits your life.

Right on Jamie.

Its pretty similar to the...

Re: Tax on soft drinks to blunt the obesity epidemic?

Wow. I nearly threw up in my mouth reading this thread. There are a lot of anti-freedom people here.

Freedom means being able to do what you want, when you want even if it is the "wrong" thing...

Re: leaning back to start shoulder press?

I've seen people say this before (no back lean), but I think they mean no back bend. If you chest is up there is no way to move the head back without flexing the neck. Even if you flex the neck the...

Re: Lunula - the moons on your fingernails

Sounds like you are under recovering. If you dont change anything to help your recovery, you may need to scale a bit more.

How much sleep do you get a night?
What is your diet exactly?

Re: Foam rolling and trigger points

If you work trigger points on a regular basis and they keep coming back, then it could be due to poor form/kinesthetics or working the wrong muscle. The area where the pain occurs is not always the...

Re: Shoulder injury, pain at bottom of pullup

If you have been able to function pain free before than it is most likely tightness in your rotator cuff caused by injury/triggerpoints or cessation of regular stretching.

If you have not been...

Re: Multiple Injury's

Pain at the top of the back of the leg near the bottom point of the pelvis typically points to the adductor magnus being the issue. Its worth checking out too.

Re: Shoulder Pain after bench

Trigger points from the infraspinatus and subscapularis will refer pain to that area.

You can check your entire rotator cuff using the instructions below.

1. Reach your opposite hand over your...

The serratus anterior can be massaged by sticking your fingers a couple of inches below the arm pit and a couple of inches in front of the lat. Search around in that area for a sore spot.

Does it...
