Re: Simple and sinister

That was just where I pulled the 385 from. The next 3 weeks were where I did the 5/3/1 cycle. Anyway, life derailed the scheduled. I will finish 500 tonight, 500 tomorrow and then Deadlift on...

Re: Simple and sinister

It is straight plug and play from the spreadsheet I made. [edit] I went back and looked where I pulled the 385 number from. I had been off of 5/3/1 for about 6 months so I reset it with current...

Re: Simple and sinister

When I first moved to San Diego = was in December of 2011. Form is fine. 5/3/1 just doesn't seem to illicit the same type of response, for me. I would have to try something like BBB or more strength...

Re: Simple and sinister

My last 5/3/1 cycle, using 90% of 395: Week 1 (303, rounded to 305) was 26 reps. Week 2 (321, rounded to 320) was 19 reps. Week 3 (339) was 11 reps. Estimated max 463... not even close. Still 395....

Re: Simple and sinister

I have been training strength since at least 2010 and my BEST deadlift is 405 at a body weight of 228#. I am around 210# now with a deadlift around 385-390. I would place myself in beginner category,...

Re: Simple and sinister

because I am drinking the KB community kool-aid right now.

The same muscles I use for pulling are definitely getting worked. Hamstrings, back, core and grip are all getting taxed. It will be worth...

Re: Simple and sinister

I am only doing russian swings. American swings are junk.

I am trying to figure out how many calories I need to eat to maintain and lose. I am still figuring it out. So my "diet" is essentially...

Re: Simple and sinister

No. If it wasn't a pull-up, push-up, dip or press variation, I didn't do much of anything besides the swings and those movements.

Re: What do you think is your one weakest link?

The bane of my exsistence. With how I workout, if I had a diet that resembled that of even a part-time athlete, I would look fairly good. Instead, I constantly hover between 20-24% BF and can't...

Re: Chimp strength

In my experiences on the boat (not that we ever rough house or wrestle on a nuclear powered submarine, ever...) the dudes that are the strongest grapplers are the dudes that either played football,...

Re: Simple and sinister

I've been including 4 mile walk/jogs and 1500-2500 yd swim (Freestyle) sessions, in addition to the 500 swings. I've done swings-only 3 times. Some of the types of "extras" I have done are x3...

Re: Simple and sinister

8,500/10,000 down... 3 more workouts to go. I am just now, in the last 2 workouts, starting to REALLY feel it in my back. I think that there will be some translation to the deadlift. I will probably...

Re: Simple and sinister

So, I have finished 6 workouts of the 10,000 swing program. Will be excited to see what happens after rep 10,000. I am not sure it will be magical, I am mainly hoping for some fat loss around my...

Re: Those who use very little carbs and high fat

What are you eating on a regular basis to intake that much fat in your diet? I ask because avocados, oils and almonds get pretty old, pretty fast.

Re: Simple and sinister

Doing 500+ of these suckers gets the lower back pretty tight. Once I started learning how to appropriately fire off my hamstrings/glutes/abs in sequence for each swing, my back felt fine. I could see...

Re: Motivation - On My Own Now?

Well, it should already be a habit for you, now. When you set aside to go do your workout, just commit to the process. For a while, in order to get myself out to my garage - I would come home, change...

Re: Simple and sinister

I saw this post and started it yesterday. I am doing the 10,000 swing program. I'll let you know how it goes. Using 53# KB, I used the 10-1-15-2-25-3-50x5 sequence and did dead-hang pull-ups...

Re: Carbs to include simple carb

100% opposite effects and experience from this guy. Training on Keto/IF was terrible. I felt drained, beat up and weak, on a regular basis. I would say that I am fairly bloated, 24/7, though. The...

Re: Carbs to include simple carb

I started adding a lot of carbs into my diet. A serving size (1 and 1/3 cup) of Cheerios (the "protein" kind) in the morning. I like to add whole oat or waxe maize powder in with protein pre/post-WO...

Re: Need some guidance please...

I followed the program mentioned above... it worked well for me. Especially in helping me realize that a little extra triceps and hamstrings work can go a long way.

Re: Help calculating my macros

I didn't know that. I did visit with a liscenced nutritionist, for the purpose of decreasing body fat, though, that put me on a target of 2450-2650 calories using servings to track my intake. I was...

Re: Help calculating my macros

That is a lot of altering on the USDA DRI calculator. As a very active, 212#, 5' 7" male they suggest 77g P, 77-134g F and 389-562g C for 3458 kcal/day. That would basically just need a protein and...

Re: Jason Khalipa's Iron Triathlon

I would rather start from 1, easier to walk away from it after finishing a certain round if you are 100% sure you cannot finish it safely.

Re: Jason Khalipa's Iron Triathlon

This workout is probably best left to really advanced/elite athletes and exercisers, only.

If you can get through Linda smoothly, you could always try 15-1, first. Then tackle 20-1 later on. The...
