Re: Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010.

I like all of this. I am the same way- I spend about an hour a day cooking.I get home from the gym a little after 6, and don't sit down to eat until around 7. And I spend at least half an hour in the...

Re: Curious about CF's stance on interval training

We do a fair amount of interval training like you described at my gym- about twice a month on average. They are very good, useful training methods.

Re: New to taking it seriously

Welcome, and good luck! It really is about the mental attitude in the gym- I notice a significant difference in my own performance when I mentally check out.

And yeah, I mean, I love bacon, but...

Re: Seen in Public today

I dissagree- you probably see a lower % of people with higher education and low "common sense," but as you are expecting more of them it appears worse than it is. Doctors are people too, you know.

Re: Starting Strength or Starting Crossfit?

This. You will meet more of your goals NOT doing SS. Keep some long distance running on the side or you are going to hurt yourself running a marathon.

Re: My Box is doing a 30 day paleo challenge...

What's wrong with fruit?

I like beef brisket, slow cooked for about 8 hours on low, then covered in equal parts honey and stone ground mustard and broiled at 450 for 15 or 20 minutes. I assume...

Re: Equipment for sale in Michigan

If you haven't already, get in touch with the guys at Spartan Crossfit. I don't know what their equipment needs are, but who wouldn't want more gear?

Re: Biggest Pet Peeve

People who talk on the phone at a checkout or cashiers line.
The person who occasionally takes the space I usually park in at my apartment.
Slurping the milk off a spoon when eating cereal.

Re: Need Help...

Go to a good sports specific trainer. They will prepare you better than any of the generic recommendations like SS will.

Re: How to Avoid Bruised Shins on the Deadlift

Sometimes I'll put long socks on. Depends on who is in the room, mostly, and if I remember. Some people don't appreciate chunks of skin left on the bar as much as other people.

Re: Nutrition rant/advice

Also, food is fuel. We're not 6 any more, vegetables don't have to be "yucky." Eat them because you need them. Food is more than the RDA of nutrient content. If it wasn't we'd all just take a pill or...

Re: Days off

Depends on your programming and your daily intensity. The way my trainers program they intend 6 days on, 1 day off. When necessary they will encourage scaling weights/reps/intensity.

Re: I need help with paleo substitutions

I second all of this. I also feel like it is a good way to establish a "baseline" feel for an individuals dietary requirements. But it's not something I personally want or need to follow either.

Re: Paleo: - There's an oven in my house! What can I roast

I did a leg of lamb last night. Didn't read the part where you turn the heat down and let it bake after having it at 450 for 20 min... Turned out a little more raw than I indended, had to put it back...

Re: Raw corn?

Corn tastes good. If you like it, eat it. I like corn on the cob, but not otherwise, for some reason. One of the best parts of summer is some grilled corn on the cob.

Re: Mtech Knives

Just throwing this out there, but ask yourself if carrying a knife is worth being expelled. If not, stick to under the 2 1/2 in, and know you might still end up in trouble. Colleges can be sticklers...
