Re: Assault bike

I have an Airdyne AD4 at home, and use an Assault Bike at the gym. They are similar, but the *** Bike is without a doubt harder. I compare it to the different in damper feel on a C2. The *** Bike...

Re: Chelsea WOD

People were doing Chelsea +1, or 2 or 3 or even 4. Chelsea + 1 = 6-11-16 reps per round/minute to increase the workload.

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

How does the event winner money work. $3K for winner. How does that work for ties? Split or both 3K?

Re: Best air bike for home use?

It was an AD4, which looks to be no longer made? And I absolutely love it.

Re: Best air bike for home use?

I bought mine from sears when I couldn't find one locally(Honolulu). They ship to store for free, if that helps.

Re: AndyS Workout Log

Still around and still Crossfitting. Some current PRs lately.
465 deadlift.
Row 500 1:27.0.
Press 225
Clean 255
Max pullups: 40

That's all of top of my head. This got to be way too much to keep...

Re: PR Thread

This week:
460 deadlift
1:27.0 500m row. That was so painful.

I think concept2's website can track that.

Lynne,
Never saw an email about the book. Maybe got lost in junk mail? Can you resend, I updated my email address.
Thanks!

Re: Getting Photographers for Free

I'm an amateur photographer and trade photography services for membership at my gym, and for swag/gear at other gyms or for merch companies. Not worth the time doing it to "build a portfolio."(for...

This week:

PR max kipping pullups at 40.

Pretty happy with both. Bodyweight around 235.

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

I need a better visual. Are your feet on the same bar as your hands? That seems a lot more difficult than a C2B.

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Wouldn't that be covered under the unusual movement rule and require pre-approval?(if you wanted to count it)

Re: Magazine ad

Can you use the CrossFit trademark like that? To explicitly say what you are not, even though they clearly want that association?

Re: Exercise Associated Hyponatremic Encephalopathy, Gatorade and the ACSM

Again I agree that over hydration kills, and the water and Gatorade are roughly equivalent as far as the effect on serum sodium.

It is fairly simple in how we manage serum sodium in the ICU. If we...

Re: Exercise Associated Hyponatremic Encephalopathy, Gatorade and the ACSM

Normal serum sodium is 135-145 meq/liter. And I completely agree that Gatorade has much less sodium than blood or normal saline, essentially zero. Anyone who acutely drops their serum sodium will...

Re: Assault Bike

If it existed when I got my Airdyne I would have gotten one. Guess now I have a number to shoot for. 75 cal.

Re: Exercise Associated Hyponatremic Encephalopathy, Gatorade and the ACSM

Gatorade is pretty isotonic. So is 5%dextrose in water, with absolutely no sodium at all. The relative amounts of sodium are what are relevant for cerebral edema(hyponatremic encephalopathy), which...

Re: Assault Bike

Half that? But I would like to hear some one who has done 300/10 and tried the assault bike. The feel is a bit off. I'm more comfortable at a relatively higher rpm on the Airdyne and it feels more...

Re: When do you wash your clothes ?

I have 4 pairs of gym shorts, wash when they are all dirty. Usually only one wearing per pair, given the warm climate and my excessive sweatyness. One or two shirts per workout and one sweat towel.

Re: Assault Bike

I own an Airdyne, and have now done some significant time on the gyms new Assault Bike. They feel about the same, and as long as you know you are never gonna get 300cal/10min on the Assault Bike,...

Re: Exercise Associated Hyponatremic Encephalopathy, Gatorade and the ACSM

With an n=1, and all the weight that carries, pedialyte worked for me. Playing multiple full rugby games at tournaments in hot weather, I used to get terrible cramps(quads, hamstrings, calves, all at...
