Re: Busy Student Nutrition

Most of them contain soy and sugar, so I avoid them. They do taste pretty good though. I cook ahead of time, so some cooked chicken in foil, and an apple or some nuts travel well. Hardboiled eggs...

Re: Best use of turnips?

I just eat them raw, like an apple. Love them. Wilt the greens in bacon grease or coconut oil with some salt. Or you can rinse and eat raw. Very nutritious.

Re: Olive Oil Butter

All of the "olive oil butters" I've seen in stores have other oils (canola, soybean, etc) in them. Leave them. Make your own if anything. Just use butter, or olive oil, coconut oil etc. They're...

Re: Hgh??

I haven't been on here since I broke my leg skiing Feb 2. I'm finally able to walk enough to exercise. I'm going to a local globo-gym until I'm capable of using the squat rack in my basement. Sucks...

Re: Hgh??

Is Chris on the CF wagon now? I started getting serious with training in 2001 (I think), and found WBB, did the bulk/cut thing for about 3 years, gained about 30lbs of LBM, then concentrated on...

Re: Weekly linear progression strength program?

Search for Dr Doug McGuff's "Body by Science" vids on youtube, or buy the book. His claim is that most people take at least a week to recover from a hard, full-body workout. Supposedly, you will...

Re: preparing organs

I bring a pot of water to a boil, drop in your chicken livers, cover, turn off the heat and forget them for at least 20 minutes. I do the same with chicken breasts. Sometimes I don't pull them out...

Re: Alton Brown's wing recipe - success!

I just do 425 in the oven for about 30 minutes, then turn the oven off (leave the door closed). Come get them about 20 minutes after that and toss them in your sauce.

Re: Deep frying with coconut oil... ?

Both lard and coconut oil have a smoke point around 350. Actually, I find that cooking with a sat fat at lower temps still yields crispy results, as compared to seed oils, which I don't use anymore....

Re: Chicken: White vs Dark meat

Aye!

Back on topic, brine those breasts for moist white meat. I brine 2-4 whole chickens and cook all of them at once. Makes several meals.

Looking for link. Imtense cycling intervals better than distance

Saw a link in another post, and now can't find it. Was a good link with links to clinical studies, etc. Described how a tabatta-like series of intervals at around 250% VO2 max, done 3X a week...

Re: A Not so Crossfit Strength Program

Do it as long as you get stronger (keep adding weight). I've run Starr's 5x5 for 21 weeks and kept getting stronger, and bigger. That's an intermediate program, but I've been lifting for 23 years. ...
