Re: Snatch Fail

Thanks for the feedback. So maybe some snatch drops and OHS to work on the lockout? I do OHS in wods, but it's not something I've gone heavy on too often.

I took another look at the video, and...

Snatch Fail

I was feeling good yesterday so I made a PR attempt, 150lbs. I felt like I just caught it way too far back, then I stupidly got stubborn for a second and tried to pull it forward, causing me to go...

Squat Clean

Any tips would be appreciated. I feel like I'm not getting to full extension, bar is hitting my quads not my hips, and I'm too far forward when I catch it. I do have long arms, I'm 6'2 with a 6'4"...

Re: Crossfit Endurance for Motocross

I've never worn my monitor riding. It would be cool to see how your HR riding compares to a typical CF workout. Post what you find out, I'd be curious.

Also, Eric, if you're out there, let us know...

Re: well that was demotivating

I like all the encouragement, I agree, just do it. I was in europe for work for the two weeks before the open, getting home severly jet-lagged on Friday, so I had only Saturday / Sunday to do it. Oh,...

Re: Getting killed on the mountain. I have no endurance

Let me throw out another possibility, that your friends were moving more efficiently than you. I see it in my sport, motocross. Those who are good a a bike use less energy than those who are starting...

Re: Gslp

I agree with Andrew and Eric. Don't be in a hurry to reset, but don't avoid it either, you make gains either way. After a reset, when I'm doing weights I've already done, I always check back in my...

Re: 2013 Goals?

First, get elbows healthy.

Then, continue goals from 2012 that I didn't make:

Press 140
Squat 345
DL 425
C&J 230
Bench bodyweight x5
HSPU

Re: Goals for 2012

OK, time to see how we did on our 2012 goals. 2012 taught me the importance of not getting injured, the worst being taking a baseball in the eye and hurting my elbow by doing too many pullups.

Met...

Re: Elbow pain from weighted chins

I'm in the same boat. I've eliminated pushes or pulls (except for limited range of motion rowing, meaning I keep my elbows in and pull to my belly button) which seems to work, but this weekend I had...

Re: Elbow pain on pullups behind "funny bone" - medial epicondylitis?

Thanks Sean I'll have it checked out.

In the mean time, I assume nothing weighted with my elbow bent?

I guess that leaves squatting, running, biking, cross country skiing, box jumps, double...

Re: Gslp

Just my opinion here, I'm fairly new to this. I'd always err on the side of recovery. One of the downsides to skipping the prescribed recovery is increased chance of injury. In the long run, injury...

Elbow pain on pullups behind "funny bone" - medial epicondylitis?

I get elbow pain during pullups, on the inside of my left elbow, right behind my funny bone whenever I do a chin-up or dead hang pullup. The pain is on the inside, between the end of my ulna and the...

Re: conditioning = sham by Rip

I enjoyed reading Rip's article, I think a lot of people could learn from it, and I agree with the direction he's trying to push things. But...before you go strength only, you need to look at what...

Re: Gslp

I'm in the same boat, slow progress on the press. If I added in dips on press day, I assume you'd do the dips after the press? So my press day would look like:

Press 5,5,5+
Dips 5,5,5+
Weighted...

Re: Strength program advice

I'll second the GSLP suggestion. Buy some 1.25 lb plates and stick at it. As for cheap quality protein, maybe ask for a whole foods gift certificate fr Christmas? Or a Costco membership?

Eat lots of...

Re: Help me NOT be last!

Rowing is the only thing I feel I'm good at in Crossfit, I get my a** handed to me all the time on conditioning workouts but can pull a sub 7:00 2000m. Of course I'm 6'1" with a 6'3" reach, so that...

Garage heaters

Looking to pick up a cheap heater for my basement garage gym, which is insulated but not heated. I'm considering the small ones that mount to the top of an LP tank, but I'm a bit concerned about...

Re: Squat fail

Yeah, my torso is definetly too vertical at the bottom, especially on the lift that I failed on. I just watched some cal strength videos, and that was an obvious area where I need improvement....

Re: Squat fail

Yeah, that's the rule. I only ask because this was on my first set. I usually fail with 5,5,4 or 5,5,3 or something like that, and I did 5,5,6 at 280 on Monday, so I think this might just have been...

Re: Squat fail

Part of me says damn it I wanted to get to 300 before resetting and another part of me says reset and work on form but in the long run it won't matter which I choose as long as I stay at it. I'm...
