Re: bumper plate choices Wright Rubber or Pendlay

You might wear out the bumpers prematurely if they are minimal relative to the weight. The idea is that they all the weight hit the floor. I think you could get away with it with the smaller plates,...

Re: flipping tires

Burpees and Pull-Ups seem to compliment tire flipping.
Take any WOD, add tire flips. Or use it as a handy sub.
Beware: my tire gets nearly unflippable as the WOD wears on.
The tire can be 'it'....

Re: Time-keeping devices/methods/ideas?

I hate Nike but have a nike watch. It's a 'Triax'. 5 level interval-timer (haven't used more than 2), 50 lap chrono (which I use for counting rounds), and the results of the 'run' or WOD can be...

Re: South Beach Diet, anyone?

I don't think it's good for you either, but at the dosage in the study, I'm not surprised: "100, 300, 500, or 1000 mg/kg" in male rats. Just thinking, for me (at 95kg) that the 9.5-95g of splenda...

Re: Has anyone tried this stuff (Mate')

The bags lack power... each bag is 3g of tea...or 35mg of caffine. (and they are expensive)
Whereas the loose stuff, at about ~175mg caffine/tablespoon.
You also need to 'wake-up' the mate with a bit...

Re: Has anyone tried this stuff (Mate')

I LOVE Yerba Mate...
I drink Guayaki loose.
Tea sock (reuseable fabric tea-bag), french-press, coffee machine, or even in the gourd (I get looks).
I sweeten with honey, but have started to take to...

Re: steroids use

Wow...is this a trolling post?
I would imagine that CF'ers using are out there, but generally speaking, we're a pretty clean eating bunch and realize that there are no short-cuts. Most of us are here...

Ok, first off, welcome...
second, when you ask about something on a website, try to post a link to the actual items you're talking about...

Re: Some beach workouts

I think I'd pass on burpees :)
Did you do the duct taped inner bags with an outter, or just used a duffle bag and didn't care?

Re: Heating your garage gym

Get a heat-gun. They are like super-duper hair dryers that crank out 600C air. 2 to 2.5 mins per side of the bar (where you're holding it, of course) and it's good to go. It's not the air temp that...

Re: Tabata squats, single round or multiple?

Why not Tabata everything? Hit some push ups, sit ups, swings, squats, tuck-jumps, pull ups. There is plenty to do at home on a short budget. Do you have paralettes? Build a pull up bar. With a PU...

Re: Newbie, sports power question.

:welcome:
Quite a question there...
If I were you, I'd stick to the WOD and see where it takes you. Alternately, hit a cycle or two of 'Starting Strength' and then come back to the WOD.
Getting a...

Re: Where to pick up after unscheduled rest days

If you're needing the extra rest, doing 4 in a row or doubling up is not the way to go. Take the extra rest if you need it.
Staying behind (after getting behind) a couple of days works too. I used to...

Re: how to figure out if a bar is dropable?

Check with the people who made it...if it doesn't say, there is no way of knowing.
I'd spend the money on a bar, and have it for the rest of your life. Yeah, you'd be spending $500-900 on a bar, but...

Re: Need A Concept 2 Monitor

have you considered a retro-fit?
Little pricey, but might be worth the $150 (to you).
I have a PM3 on a model 'A'...great little thing.

Re: Which watch to swim with????

I've got a Nike triax sprint 50. 5 stage interval timer is decent. I can hear it under water (if I'm listening for it).
I don't do intervals in the water, but it might just work for you. Mine was $90...
