Re: Back Squat Critique

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try some and post a video. I haven't specifically tried high bar squat much, so the feedback will be very helpful.

Re: Back Squat Critique

Thanks guys for your comments. Today, I tried moving the bar a little lower. I'll try to get some pictures or videos after I've experimented with it. I eventually want to do high bar back squat as...

Re: Back Squat Critique

Shawn: I think part of the part is that my traps are not very large, so the bar looks higher than it is on my back. So I need to build more muscle back there so the bar position is more defined.

Re: Back Squat Critique

Thanks for the feedback guys. I really appreciate it.

Dare: I haven't tested my 1RM in a few years - as I had knee surgery (ACL and meniscus) a couple years ago and I've only done back squat for the...

Back Squat Critique

Hi everyone,

I haven't done this in a few years, so I'm a little nervous, but here goes. I would appreciate any feedback on the back squat (low bar).

I think these are okay, but I'm wondering if...

Re: Can't complete the WOD

I've always thought that humility and courage go hand-in-hand. People who can't humble themselves will avoid challenges that threaten their ego. Those who can do things they are not good at will...

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

I understand this but I feel he seemed to have the really nitpicky judge. Spealler is a really classy guy though. He got frustrated during the event, but was pretty cool afterwards about it....

Re: Spotter for lifting

I only use a spotter for bench press also. If I bench at home, it won't be an all-out set and I'll rack the weight even if I "might" be able to get one more rep.

Re: Weight Belts

I have been convinced to use a belt on my heavy lifts. However, it seems there's a little technique involved in using it properly, so I will have to work on it.

Re: Core Work before and after training

Also, strict pull-ups and chin-ups hit the core pretty well also. But if you want to do extra, have at it!

Re: Sports Skill WOD

Mike,

I replied in your other thread related to this, but I had some other thoughts.

I think complex sports skills (swinging a club, free throws, etc.) should be practiced BEFORE doing...

Re: Rookie status

Other tips were very good, just a couple other things:
1. Be patient with yourself. I think you'll see a sort of snowball effect as you watch your diet, get stronger, and get good sleep. It will...

Re: Please checkout my trailer to my fitness film!

Jay,

I watched a couple other of your videos. Do you do the production/editing? Very nice!

When I do my own fitness/martial arts video, I want to hire you or whoever you have doing them. (a few...

Re: What's the minimum time a sports skill needs to be performed?

I have a little theory about this somewhat based on experience, somewhat based on neuroscience, and inspired a little by computer gaming, but I'll try my best to make it clear.
1. I think every time...

Re: 500m row

Damper settings are kind of individual too based on the maintenance of the machine and stuff. It's hard to compare damper setting from one machine to another unless you know they are both in similar...

Re: What's the minimum time a sports skill needs to be performed?

It think it depends...
on your skill level: If you're already proficient at something, it might be easy to maintain but difficult to improve. For example, if you are already decent at tennis let's...

I think it's important to remember that the adaptation from the stimulus of training occurs during rest. I think even if you vary the stimulus (different energy systems, etc.) I think there is a...

I love Ross Enamait's stuff as well.

I've had 1 sanctioned amateur fight, which I lost, but it was very instructional in pointing out my many weaknesses.

Following a lot of the stuff you...
