Re: NEW PR ON HBBS 400lbs

T-Rex might hate wall balls but he loves olympic lifts. 400 is a big lift and is probably just the beginning. Congrats.

Re: Crossfit and Hot Yoga 3x/week each...thoughts?

Personally I'm not a fan of hot yoga. It intentionally uses high heat to stress the participant which activates the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight response). The amount of sweat...

question about load for met cons...

Recently I've gotten strong enough to attempt RX weights for various met cons that my box programs. I am - however - right at the threshold strength wise. For example I can clean and jerk 135 10...

Re: 4 Months in Crossfit

I know I might get flamed for this but I don't think the zone is not necessary or even helpful for someone on paleo. I would recommend trying something like the renegade diet - its simple and can be...

Re: Paleo with Carb Back-Loading Principals

Paulo,

I'm wondering how you feel about the calorie recommendations of the renegade diet? Using the eat to perform calculator and moderate activity I get 500 calories more per day. This is pretty...

Re: Anyone follows the eattoperform.com baseline?

CBL was not written for crossfitters. Our carb demands are different than our power lifting brothers. For a lot of crossfitters who have been doing the zone or low-carb paleo you will gain weight...

Re: Diet recommendations for a sloth

You can create a plan with canned tuna, sliced deli meats (hopefully without additives), jerkies etc. and raw fruits and veggies but your fats would be kind of low. I guess with the addition of...

Re: Dairy??

It depends on how much of his protein is derived from milk. If it is a large portion of his 1g per lb then its pretty hard to stay or get lean. This is why GOMAD works - its a ton of...

Re: Dairy??

If you add dairy I don't recommend low fat versions but if you are drinking full fat milk you won't be losing weight. Canned tuna might be your friend. Whey protein might be your friend. A lot of...

Re: Pre-WOD meal at the crack of dawn...

If you have a Trader Joes near you their Lite Coconut Milk is great for shakes - half a can plus protein powder plus some fruit - you'll swear your eating a milk shake (almost).

Re: Pre-WOD meal at the crack of dawn...

A cup of coffee with coconut oil or milk. Good quick energy without loading the belly. Eat extra carbs the evening before to feel strong (sweet potato or rice).

Re: Calorie Intake Help

I think 3000 cals is a good starting place. If you eat about 175 grams of protein thats 700 calories, add in about 225 of carbs for another 900 calories leaving you with about 155 grams of fats. ...

Re: Is 3000 calories too much?

I'm with Michael on this one. If you want to get stronger you need more starchy carbs. Sweet potatoes and white rice.

Re: Paleo with Carb Back-Loading Principals

I've read CBL and its pretty confusing. I've been using the resources from eat to perform but I'm still gaining weight. Not a huge deal but my big problem with this is it isn't intuitive. I feel...

Re: Training dad with lumbar issues?

I'm not in pain any longer. I used to have discomfort when I sat for 30 minutes or more and then stood up - gone. I don't have pain when I squat or deadlift or any other movement I try. I...

Re: 1 month in

Be careful with your shin splints. I would recommend rowing as a running sub until your shins feel okay. Shin splints are more than likely due to bad form but they take forever to heal if you don't...

Re: 500 Meter Rowing Time?

I was a competitive rower in high school and can say with near certainty that the majority of crossfitters have poor form. This is understandable because the rowing stroke is deceptively difficult. ...

Re: Questions To Ask/ Thinks to look for in a used Concept Rower

There are a few common problems with C2s that you will see again and again. The most common is the handle not having enough tension to pull you up the slide on the recovery. This would not be...

Re: vibram five fingers sizing..

Mine haven't stretched in the month or so I've had them. If you ever intend to wear socks with them (they make 5-toe socks) then leave them a little loose (a very little). I wouldn't go tighter...
