Re: Reebok only apparel at Crossfit Games?

I may have spoken too soon earlier. I saw some Inov-8's, but after that one heat, I never saw anything but Reebok. So maybe it was just an error in the first heat of the day. That Nettey and...

Re: Reebok only apparel at Crossfit Games?

So were the claims in this thread exaggerated? I've been watching the master's feed and seen lots of shoes other than Reeboks.

Re: Pistol Squat holding a Barbell overhead

Interested in why you'd bother to call a no rep on a video of a cool human trick... And what makes you consider it a no rep for "pistol" but a rep for "SLS" (single-leg squat)? By any games...

Re: Rogue Stinks

Bill,

I don't know what coloring process the company that you send the bars to uses, but depending on the coating process, black zinc is known for fading to green over time. Increased heat or...

Re: PWO carbs

Unless you're a long-duration endurance athlete or Ronnie Coleman, you're probably not doing that much depletion of your glycogen stores from lifting. In your (or most athlete's case) the way that...

Re: Deadlift stalls 2-3" from the top

As others said, usually when I see an athlete struggle in the last few inches it's because they're trying to pull with their upper back to finish the lift which usually results in a struggle (and...

Re: Use of the word "Certified"!?

My guess was that it is a requirement passed from the ANSI accreditation process. It looks like I was right; I did a little digging and in the L1 FAQ, I found this:

"23. WHY IS THE LEVEL 1 COURSE...

Re: The 1 person class

Help them become a better athlete. You have a unique opportunity when compared with the group classes - you can devote your attention to really identifying specific areas that they need to work on...

Re: Prescribed vs. scale/ strength vs. cardio

The fact that you've not improved on Tabata's is not particularly surprising. Most people hit their adaptions there in about 6 weeks or so if performed regularly. This is assuming they're actually...

Re: If the seller is on the forum, please explain

Looks like it's way overpriced to me. I bet if you sent that parts list to Rogue and got a custom quote they'd be happy to make you a deal on new equipment and it'd be a lot cheaper than 8k.

Re: How did your "Murph" go?

Did a drop in while traveling and did half "Murph" with a time of 21:12. Was taking it pretty easy due to being fatigued from a 7 hour drive the day before, I think I could have done it under 20 on...

Re: CF Boards Shutting Down?

I actually consider that to be a good thing. Readability is key. Sure, update the image at the top, but don't need a flashy gadget for a forum.

Re: 17 Years old, PR 200Lb Clean

Snatch-grip deadlifts, snatch/clean high pulls, muscle cleans/snatches.

Re: 17 Years old, PR 200Lb Clean

So, reading your own statement, how would you address fixing lagging upper back strength?

Re: HSPUs - bands or decreased ROM

Since you say you want to do more, I assume you can already do a set of full range of motion HSPU, or at least one.

I'd do sets where you do as many strict as you can with good form then kick up and...

Re: Deadlift and lower back issue...

Pull ups, supine ring rows, bent-over barbell/dumbell rows.

Also, practicing the lift from the top down, get locked into good position and maintain it under control on the way down with light loads...

Re: Deadlift and lower back issue...

That video has some use, but the last reps he has the guy do are a bit deceptive as his hips get too low as I think Elliot is really trying to just get him to fix his back alignment. If you note...

Re: Deadlift and lower back issue...

Dare, sorry it's taken me a bit to answer this last bit.

I asked about height because if you were 6'3" or something, that might have an significant impact on form, but at 5'10" you should be able to...

Re: Deadlift and lower back issue...

You nailed what I saw in the lighter reps you tried, you actually look pretty good on the pull but your hips are a quite a bit lower than I'd like them to be, you're almost in a squatting position:...

Re: Legless rope climbs and sore abs?

My thoughts as well, lots of rotational forces under high load as you pump the arms and legs. Especially if you don't sprint often.
