Re: Bicep Pain from Power Cleans?

I would definitely get this checked out by a professional immediately. Regardless of your choice of clean mechanics, severe pain and muscle weakness in the arms is not normal. The weakness especially...

Re: Dumb Question - Quad Ache while Driving?

Assuming there is not a more serious medical issue at work here, then I would think the hip flexors are just getting a lot of work and getting stiff. When you sit for long periods they are in a...

Re: Dumb Question - Quad Ache while Driving?

[QUOTE=Jeremy Schultz;1212585]Andrew, thanks so much for the comment. I had always assumed that it was my quad, but your explanation makes sense, now that I think about it. It would also make sense...

Re: Dumb Question - Quad Ache while Driving?

Almost certainly repeated motions of hip flexion while driving are causing hip flexors to go into painful spasm. Probably not a venous issue unless you already have a history of venous disease, but...

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

Those lifts look very, very good for a 1st competition. But, man it is hilarious to see you drop the bar like you do in your garage! You know you can let go of the bar, right? Anyway, nice job.

Re: ankle mobility help needed

Very good points. If you are not in pain, definitely gonna be cheaper to get some squat coaching first.

Re: ankle mobility help needed

SI joint dysfunction can refer pain to the posterior thigh, low back, or buttock, but it is not usually implicated in nerve entrapment. This is because there is a negligible amount of movement at the...

Re: ankle mobility help needed

Your mobility problems appear to be beyond the scope of a message board.

Yes, some mobilizations to your ankle would probably increase motion and help you get into a deeper squat. Attempting to...

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

For all of your questions, the answer is to practice more, and focus on doing it correctly each time.

Not sure which video. All of them, probably.

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

On snatches, toward the heavier reps, your hips slow down and don't punch the bar aggressively. It is really important to be consistently correct. So you might think about backing down 5kg in order...

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

On snatches, punch hips more, especially as the weight goes up. Looking better at lighter weights, just work on consistency.

On cleans, work on reaching full extension; don't cut the pull short....

Re: Snatch from the blocks

At the high hang or "power position," the bar should be pulled into the hips and the torso is vertical, with the knees flexed and ready to punch into the bar. The way you have set up for this...

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

Yes, sweeping the bar back to the hips and also punching the hips so they hit the bar is correct.

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

Pretty good hips on the snatches. I'm sorry you have decided to do good mornings instead of proper high-bar squats, but that's up to you!

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

OK, in that case....stop doing your first pull like a deadlift. It is not a deadlift. Chest and head up. Then, on squats, don't do low bar. Keep your chest and head up.

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

OK, you will not find elite weightlifters who tense up their necks because that is not how it is taught. Look up any of the really good weightlifters and you will see they all have a relaxed start...

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

Yes, I understand what you are doing with your back. I am telling you that this is not correct for weightlifting. You should be relaxed with your neck and shoulders at the setup, with the spine in...

Re: My Video Training Log (For Critique Purpose)

Still gotta work on that tightness in your neck and shoulders before the first pull. RELAX. Also, do high bar squats. Otherwise, good hips on the snatches.

Re: Clean/Jerk Help?

Relax more on the start, head up. Elbows down at the rack position.

Re: 17 years old - 320 back squat

Holy heck, that is an incredible amount of weight for anybody, much less a 17 year old kid. I couldn't even put 600 pounds on my back.

Re: snatch help
