After tearing gastrocnemius (tennis leg)...

I just partially tore my calf...couple of questions...

After/during rehab, is that muscle more likely to tear in the future??

(I don't plan on downgrading my level of play anytime soon..though the...

Breaks from Crossfit?

I'd been doing CF relatively strictly for almost a year when I got really fatigued and a couple of months ago, my WODs got really poor at best. My pull-ups got less and less and I just felt...

Crossfit style spreading!

Nearly all the gyms and trainers in the Lansing, Michigan area are now offering at least one Crossfit Style class. Kinda funny. I'm a YMCA member and there are several "functional fitness" classes...

Firefighter Combat Challenge

Well, there's no question that CF is an excellent training tool for the combat challenge. My previous best was 2:37 prior to CF. I ran the challenge in Akron, OH this past weekend and ran a 2:19. ...

Re: combat challenge firefighters

Robert,

I did a combat challenge a couple of years ago, and 1 last year. Both times were around 2:30ish. I wasn't doing Crossfit though. We've got some guys going to Milwaukee in Sept. and I'm...

What's your weighted pull-up?

Today I did the weighted pull-up WOD from yesterday. I've never done them before and was pretty pleased with my results. I went 55-80-90-90-90-80-80. I'm curious what some of you guys can do. I'm...

Re: Heart skipping a beat?

I've noticed that my issue is non-existant when I don't kill a WOD and then follow it with a hard HIIT training session. Perhaps some of us are simply overtraining at times. For now it seems that...

Re: 400m time guidelines

That's just it.

Grant, Jacob, and Stephen,

Your enthusiasm is awesome and your running ability is certainly elite in my eyes, but if you think that someone that can't run a 60 sec. 400 isn't...

Re: 400m time guidelines

I'm with Scott.

I've only been doing 400's on a treadmill at the Y and my time is 2:15. I'm pretty sure I'd have a faster time on the track, but I'm not sure. That being said, I think putting 2:15...

Re: Question on the crossfit pullups

The way I see it...if I do 3 sets of 10 strict pull-ups, I've just got a decent lat workout. If I do 50 kipping pull-ups, I've just got a damn good workout from the waist up. With Kipping pull-ups,...

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

2 and 3 days after "Kelly", my upper back is TIGHT! While doing wall ball, I really thought that movement was a breeze, but now the muscles between my shoulders completely disagree.

Re: WOD - Deadlift PR's Baby!

David and Sean,

WOW!

I did 245/245/265(failed)/245/255/255/255. How weak!

But hey, I've just started to do olympic lifts, so I guess I've got to start somewhere huh?

I skipped the metcon...

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

Yeah, my legs are a little weak today. I'll be hitting the DLs early this afternoon. Should be interesting.

Good luck guys.

-Carl

Oh, David, your DL numbers are huge! I'm not even close to 300...

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

Well...I scaled "Kelly" back to the 15 reps per round. And for the 400, I had to alternate from the treadmill at 3.5 incline and the stair stepper because the Y's cardio stuff was full. As soon as...

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

I'm heading to the Y to try "Kelly" right now. I think I'm going to scale it to 15 reps for the jumps and wall ball. My back is a little iffy still. I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Any Elite in Lansing, MI?

I've been CFing for 2 months. (Sat out today due to a small spasm in my back) I was doing "Bigger,Faster,Stronger" for a couple of months before that and got bored. Yeah, I do get some weird looks...

Re: Any Elite in Lansing, MI?

The MAC. Funny. I've worked out there for years. I usually ended up playing so much basketball that I was too tired to hit the weights though. Now that I'm a family guy, the MAC is just too much...

Re: Any Elite in Lansing, MI?

I'm in. There are a few Lansing area folks on the discussion board. I don't think any of us train at the same gyms though. I've converted about 3 co-workers so far. I work-out at the Y in DeWitt....

Re: Heart skipping a beat?

Frank,

I'm not sure what your medical background is...

It's hard for me to judge urine output because I'm not real consistent with my water intake. Some days I drink a couple of gallons. Some...

Re: Heart skipping a beat?

Ok...Sorry I haven't updated my situation, but that's because I forgot to get the halter monitor a couple of weeks ago, then I just figured I'd cut the caffeine and see if it would go away. It did....
