Depends on the class and the athlete. If it is becoming a habit make em repeat. If it is isolated and they have demonstrated somewhat skillful movement, it's a judgement call. Also consider...

+1 to Randy's comment. We went from a 4 class foundations to an on-ramp modeled after Norcal and it's the best thing we've done!

Our structure is made of 1" which has an OD of 1.25" It works great and though I've used larger at other facilities, I like the 1".
