Re: CrossFitters vs Decathletes

Not considering who would do the others event better (a fairly useless discussion), I'd have to characterize an Elite Crossfitter 'fitter' only because he has the strength dimension in his...

Re: Elite crossfit athlete development theory

"Periodization as variations in intensity: inescapable. Periodization as planned variations in intensity to optimize performance: witchcraft." -Greg Glassman

What is he talking about?!

Just a modified 5 X 5 Strength Cycle
4-5 exercises
4-6 weeks 5 X 5
4 weeks 5 X 3
2 weeks 5 X 1
I've had advanced athletes improve up to 40% in strength.
AND....with doing little MetCon, the...

Re: The 300 workout

Re: Crossfit is the best program for Bodybuilding

This statement has probably done more to have Crossfit lurkers doubt the basic soundness of CF in general than anything else unfortunately.
I think the statement is clinically and instinctively...

Re: Crossfiter or Bodybuilder?

When I first was exposed to CF I liked it and did it (too religiously I'm afraid!)....
but this statement and a few others things struck me as strangely illogical, from just a deductive reasoning...

Re: Overtraining?

The CF protocol calls for 24 high intensity sessions per month ....In my experience (personally and with athletes) its a recipe for , at least , CNS depletion in short order.
I've developed a cycle...

Re: Universal strength apparatus

I have power rings, but what I like about these is you never have to change a buckle/for adjusting ring/handle position.....and the climbing adds a lot to the options.

Re: Universal Strength Apparatus

my friend, an exgymnast, has these and went thru a series of circuit style exercises that'd be impossible on my power rings....ordered them the next day.

Re: How can Coach say that crossfitting develops more muscle than trad' weightlifting

Yeah, there are hyped statements in the crossfit site principles that are problematic, this being one of them.
A trainee with strength/power/endocrine deficit will probably increase muscle mass on...

Re: rest may help

The only issue I've ever had with the Crossfit protocol is the 3on 1off protocol....its a recipe for disaster for most doing high intensity exercise.
I'd recommend rotating 2 different high intensity...

Re: CRITICISM: More focus on transition to CF needed?

Respectfully....but in IMHO, when it comes to programming maximal intensity work I don't think the 3 on 1 off is advisable in terms of long term performance enhancement....even if nutritional intake...

Re: CRITICISM: More focus on transition to CF needed?

to me the 'criticism' isn't the intensity level of any one workout (we're assuming the skills are adequate)...its that the 3on 1off is a recipe for real CNS burnout....(that'd be 22 balls-out...

Well I'll run a little 2 week test every now and then. Haven't really looked at the run of various training types of CF in a while. Maybe it's its changed....

Re: Periodization and Crossfit

My opinion is that periodization is essential to mazimize performance with Crossfit...or any planned performance objective.
The problem is the system can tolerate only so much balls out type...

Re: WOD's and strength

Two rounds (one 8 months, one 4 months) of WOD's only a while back knocked me out.
I don't think the 3-1 on off schedule is optimal for most.
Since then I've cycled rounds of:
day1;...
