Re: Vegans and performance

Well vegetarians get B12 from animal products they do consume and vegans should supplement B12. Although since B12 comes from the soil, there are chances that if they are eating organic produce that...

Re: Vegans and performance

What is meant by "vegetarian nutrition" is proper nutrition from a vegetarian point of view. It isn't telling someone to not eat meat, it is telling someone who doesn't eat meat how they should be...

Re: Vegans and performance

Untrue. I think people should know about nutrition no matter if they eat meat or not but if they choose to be vegetarian, then I think they need to know how to do so healthfully. Especially growing...

Re: Vegans and performance

And well the real answer is probably don't ask a bunch of meat eaters about vegetarian/vegan nutrition. Even though I knew a fair amount about nutrition prior to be vegan, I didn't know anything...

Re: Vegans and performance

Personally, as a vegan, I don't want to eat meat and it gets tiring really quick to hear a bunch of meat jokes or "oh my god, I could never do that". No one asked you to. I don't go around telling...

Re: Vegetarian lunch ideas?

Personally, I've never read Skinny B1tch but from what I know if it, they do push highly processed foods which is a shame. I don't believe we are meant to eat such crap.

I personally don't eat...

Why not instead let them eat what they want?

Re: Vegetarian lunch ideas?

Totally not true. I rarely eat processed foods. Yes there are vegans who do but there are many vegans that don't.

When I wanted to go vegetarian (not vegan), I read The China Study. I liked...

Re: Vegetarian lunch ideas?

Do you have a microwave at work? My lunches are basically dinner leftovers. I bought some GlassLock containers because I don't like microwaving in plastic. If you have an asian market near you,...

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Hi all!

I've been really happy lately as it seems like a lot of things are coming together for me. My back squats, front squats and overhead squats are improving in form and weight abilities. ...

Re: Vegans and performance

Every whole, unprocessed food has some protein in it, the amount varies though. I personally don't like soy protein shakes because it is processed but hemp is decent as it is not really processed. ...

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Ok I should say I don't normally drop weights but I do know how. I was mentally running through my mind how to bail out of a back squat when I was doing them yesterday :) I haven't really had to...

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

I guess it is a good thing that I have to reset after ever rep on the deadlifts since it hurts my hands :) So I lower the weight let go, reset lift, repeat.

I'm also not a weight dropper, not...

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

We had some new members recently at the gym and one of the girls expressed that she felt really out of shape, all I had to say is that you will make improvements and you'll make them fast. It...

Re: Thinking of taking up Tae Kwon Do

I belong to a school that mixes tang soo do and jiu jitsu. I have a green belt, which I got right before I quit to start Crossfit a few months ago. I'm considering going back but it would make my...

Re: Ex Vegetarians and Ex Vegans

Being vegan, protein is obviously coupled with carbs, especially if you are eating a minimally processed vegan diet. The nice thing about eating a minimally processed vegan diet though is that...

Re: Ex Vegetarians and Ex Vegans

I'm vegan. Been doing Crossfit for a few months and haven't encountered any issues and I'm constantly improving. Not sure why a trainer would say you wouldn't be vegan for long. Obviously, how you...

Re: Heard in the Office Today

Have you tried Whole Foods or similar type stores? Their products generally don't have artificial sweeteners. I buy hemp protein sometime at my local organic type store and I think I've seen whey...

Re: UC Berkeley drops gymnastics teams

I grew up in CA, I'm a UC graduate and I have to say I'm not surprised. California has been struggling for years. They were talking about closing their state parks not too long ago and not sure...

Re: Heard in the Office Today

I don't mind having a needle go in me at all. One time (prior to Crossfitting but was doing weight lifting), a nurse told me that my vein was so strong she almost thought it was a tendon. Seemed...

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Hi Girls! I've been lurking for the most part. I just wanted to pop in. I did Murph today, with modified pushups/pullups and it took me 71 minutes. One of the trainers came up to before the...

Re: How have we arrived at this place in our evolution ?

I was trying to say you can't equate obesity and smoking. Smoking leads to many issues especially lung cancer. What disease does obesity lead to? Obesity can be an indicator of poor lifestyle. And...

Re: How have we arrived at this place in our evolution ?
