Re: Returned From Deployment - Where'd People Go?

Some of them post over at ********* now also I think.

It is part of the ~2 year cycle I have observed here. The most active and engaged posters are also the ones who are trying to learn and working...

Re: Squat help---can't keep torso upright

Your torso will never be perfectly straight up and down, even in a front squat. I think your back angle looks fine in your videos and you are trying to force a more upright torso for no good reason....

Re: 300# Back Squat, 17 years old

Since it appears you are doing a Rippetoe style squat I will say you lost your hip drive about half way up coming out of the whole, right where you hit your sticking point. Your back angle changes...

Re: Why do people hate Crossfit?

I think this is exactly correct, but needs to be explored just a little deeper. Why is it that everyone thinks CF is just high intensity BW grueling metcons? Because the VAST majority of CF boxes...

Re: squats making your entire body grow

Science is not about cherry picking, that is correct. It is about looking at all the evidence with a critical and questioning mind, correct. Whether in medicine or any other scientific field it...

Re: squats making your entire body grow

What is it these links are exactly supposed to prove?

The second "study" found a statistically significant difference between the group that did "full body exercises" to increase hormonal level and...

Re: Article - Crossfit, Is It a Safe Program

... He is not a triathlete only coach, did you read you even read the bio? And the part you took issue with was directly related to CF training for triathletes (CFE) so even if you want to call him...

Re: Article - Crossfit, Is It a Safe Program

... The guy is not giving advice on how to be a competitive power lifter. He is giving advice on how strength training should be used by Triathletes! It seems he is in a perfect place to give an...

Re: 11 Year Old Squat, Bench, Deadlift

Sorry don't have time for checking boards much these days. And along that line I don't have the time nor the energy to try and pull up shoulder mechanics studies for you. Nor is it very likely that...

Re: 11 Year Old Squat, Bench, Deadlift

As you lower yourself from a plank to the bottom of a push-up you are loading your rotator cuff, lats, and several other shoulder stabilizers which holds the head of the humerus in place. When you...

Re: 11 Year Old Squat, Bench, Deadlift

Hand release push-ups are the scourge of healthy shoulders and I would not recommend them for anyone.

Re: Little, Old Guy - squatting

Very strong lifts, even 455 looked like you had a good amount left in the tank.

My comments:
I can't see because of the plates, but on both 405 and 455 I think you lose a little thoracic curve which...

Re: UFC 140 - Jones v Machida

I won't go so far as to say Machida has no chance, but to say he will "whup Jones, up, down, and all around the cage" is ridiculous. It is certainly possible he will win, but it will not be a KO...

Re: UFC 140 - Jones v Machida

I am interested to see if Machida will even be ABLE TO get Jones in trouble, is what I was trying to say :)

Re: How long to keep a strength bias

To be fair a BW press, and 2x BW squat probably take an average of 1.5 years of consistent unyielding training. It is not something that will happen in a single, short linear progression cycle. At...

Re: How long to keep a strength bias

Do what you want. If you want to do more metcons go to town, but realize you will lose strength when you do so. If you are like me this will upset you and you will go back to strength training, if...

Re: UFC 140 - Jones v Machida

I am still interested to see if Machida CAN "hit Jones numerous times". His reach is 6'2", Jones is 7'1/2". As a counter striker it will be very tough to counter strike, when you can't even reach...

On average in the population people that are 6' 260lbs are not 8% BF. In fact I would say it is very rare. That is why when analyzing a population, and looking at making claims about...

Re: Muscular Anatomy Quizzing Site?

You can't really see those muscles from an anterior view of the shoulder... so that may be why your having a tough time?

Those muscles are all attached so closely together the tiny fraction you may...

Re: UFC 140 - Jones v Machida

I think the Machida fight is a more interesting match up for Jones anyways. Jones will still have the physical advantage as far as reach is concerned, but I don't think that is ever going to...

Besides, if minimalist training was your focus, lose the shoes, lose the...
