Re: Supplementing for Recovery

In my experience the stress is the number one killer of recovery and motivation. Taking a daily vitamin B supplement and eluethero (http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/learn/eleuthero_root.php)...

Re: Rugby and CF - Another Newbie!

I recommend two sprint/agility/plyo workouts per week as well. Focus on form. It makes a world of difference.

SAQ Rugby by Alan Pearson has some really good stuff in it.

Re: Arizona...

They are about making money, but they have the convenient and proven side benefit of reducing the vice.

You're right that that money doesn't end up going to treatment and prevention, which is a damn...

Re: Arizona...

I'm not talking about a fine for hobbies, sports, etc... I'm talking about a tax on "foods" such as candy, soda pop, etc..that are known to cause obesity, diabetes, and other health problems. They...

Re: Arizona...

Oh, and here's a little stat for you: Medical procedures relating to obesity cost $147 Billion in 2008 in the US. How much of this do you think fell on the American taxpayer?

Re: Arizona...

I never said ban, and I don't believe any of it should be banned. I do think, however, that consumers of these products should pay the real price of these things and it shouldn't fall on the...

Re: Free WOD Log software

Sounds awesome!

The one issue I've run into on the online CF workout logs, is the ease of putting in modifications to common WODs.

Re: Arizona...

I definitely do want taxes for twinkies, soda, macdonald's, and all poisons like it. I used to be a 1-2 pack a day smoker. You know what my biggest motivator for quitting was? I couldn't afford it...

Re: Nutrition Discipline

Cut the soda completely. I have a sugar tooth (i.e. sugar addiction), and when I cut out all sugar I'll get gnarly cravings after about 3 days and then they go away about day 5. After that I don't...

Give me a hairy chest and beard any day. Naturally hairless men are ok, but dudes that shave - get that **** out of here.

Re: Arizona...

While I technically agree with the point you're trying to make that fining groups of people based on someone's opinion of what is unhealthy is going too far, I think obese people that will end up...

Re: crossfit/zone and no weight loss?

20 lbs in 6 months is 3.33 lbs per month - nearly 1 lb per week. Sounds like a healthy rate of weight loss to me. It could be better if she dropped the soda and slept more.

Re: Pro athletes in the CF games

The hits are just as hard, rugby players just avoid leading with their heads and are required to wrap.

I saw the ankle weight dude again. This time with his back against the wall (with his ankle weights on of course) with his toes up on plates on the floor....curling.

A couple of high school kids...

Re: Plantar fasciitis - Strassburg sock

I was always under the impression that the water bottle rolling was to break up scar tissue and reduce inflamation. Is this wrong?

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Actually I'm working this month in Edmonton, Alberta - the snow just melted, so you can actually hang out outside now. It's just as bad as if it had happened in Portland.

Re: Plantar fasciitis - Strassburg sock

I didn't run (only rowing) until symptoms were gone (several months) and wore wide based, flat shoes (skater shoes) for everything else I was doing.

Nightly rolling with a...
