Re: Anthony and Jodi's Journal

Anthony, that deadlift progress is just sick.

... hope it's catching. :D

You started the thread a day early, eh? :D

Re: Need help, heavy lifts destroying my house

I cannot quite imagine how dropping bumpers on a concrete ground floor in a garage will crack the 2nd story walls of a house, however poorly it's constructed, or how monstrous the lifts. Bouncing...

Re: Rowing advice

The other thing about rowing on the water vs. on a machine is how much more important full extension is at the "catch." That's because leverage angles of the sculls in terms of actually moving the...

Re: Anthony and Jodi's Journal

Brilliant lift, Tony.

I checked your Vimeo video of it, and the thing was amazingly quick and smooth. Certainly more in the tank - congrats.

Re: Jujitsu vs Muay Thai

I hear you about the value of the almost immediate applicability of (some) techniques in disciplines like Krav, contrasted with years of learning forms in traditional arts before they can become...

Re: Jujitsu vs Muay Thai

Actually, the same is true of traditional karate ... when you look beyond the surface into the applications of movements in the kata. What looks like (and is typically taught as) a simple block etc....

Re: Anthony and Jodi's Journal

Ow ow ow ow owwww!

I'd be inclined to leave off deadlifting for a few days, to let the injury heal up a bit before putting all that stress on. Don't mess with yourself longer-term for the sake of a...

Re: My Video Interview at StartingStrenght.com

Agreed. Ridiculous choice - particularly as Rip's gone out of his way to remain entirely personally silent on whatever may have been the underlying frictions. Suspicions may abound in some...

Re: My Video Interview at StartingStrenght.com

What in God's name could have tripped the delete-o-meter about the words Starting Strength in an URL? Here of all places.

Re: PLEASE HELP me prove this CF hater wrong..

Statistically, most murder victims (outside the drug trade) were killed by their significant others, in a domestic dispute.

Marital effectiveness sounds to me exactly like being harder to...

Re: Weekly linear progression strength program?

You can maintain linear strength progress lifting heavy twice/week; it's what I'm doing now, with conditioning WODs and skills practice (karate) on other days. Though progress is slower, it also...

Re: Is it worth it?

You've come to the wrong place to get an unbiased opinion on whether it's worth it.

Bottom line - depending on your goals, it's absolutely worth it. CF is great at what it's great at, and the...

Re: Anthony and Jodi's Journal

Great lifting, you two.

Hiccups aside, you're lifting some serious weight, and making us all proud. Can hardly wait for the report from Nationals.

Re: high intensity vs. low intensity training, continued

It's important, I think, that this is low intensity ... with a difference.

When most of us climb on an erg to do lower intensity work, we don't pull as hard. Sure, our stroke rate drops, but the...

Thanks Anthony. My mob's training's coming just fine, though there've been some hiccups.

Chris recently closed out a strength cycle; despite wimping out when things started to get heavy, and not...

Re: A Not so Crossfit Strength Program

It truly depends on what you mean by "good results."

SS produced very significant strength gains in each of my 3 kids, and their first cycles happened when they were 8, 13, and 14 respectively. ...

Re: A Question on SS and Stalling

When my squat work sets got to about #260-265, they and my DL each stopped progressing. Didn't matter that I re-set, or that I ate/slept enough, I hit the same wall 3 times.

As an older guy (I was...

Re: Another home made squat rack idea

Could work. I'd be a bit concerned about the strain on your connection at the top end, if the bottom is held in place only by friction against the floor.

If you have the floor space, why not use...

Re: Back Squat Bigger Than Deadlift??

How often are you doing those 7X1, 3X5, or 5X5 workouts? And when you do them, are those mostly sets across, or ramping up to a single heavy set?

If you look at their training logs, for the last...
