Re: Low Back Injury From Deadlifting

After three year of chronic sciatica caused by herniated discs. . . . I'm beginning to wonder about what's worth doing and what's not worth doing. . . .

Re: Question:

I meant it from the perspective that everything is point and click these days. Admittedly, I haven't done any web editing for years, but what I've seen lately is all about point-n-click. ;)

Re: Artificial disc vs. fusion

Knowing nothing more about it than what's been posted here, I say go for the replacement.

If the artificial disc doesn't work, can the doc take it out and do a fusion?

Re: The L4/L5 bulging disc club

6 weeks? That's nuthin'. :p

Took me about a year to go to 0 pain on a 0 -10 scale.

Something like 90+ % of disc problems heal themselves with time.

Re: The L4/L5 bulging disc club

Personally, the ability to get out of bed in the morning ranks higher than pounds of deadlift.

Re: The L4/L5 bulging disc club

L4/L5, L5/S1 here, diagnosed via MRI.

I didn't get shots. I did a lot of "press-ups." Lots and lots of press-ups. That's the only thing that helped and it took about a year.

That being said,...

Re: Plantar Fasciitis from Merrells??

The people I've known who have had plantar fasciitis didn't wear 'barefoot' shoes. So my guess would be--it depends.

age as an issue?

Is age an health and medical issue?

All I know is....I must be old. The "Injuries" and "Health and Medical Issues" boards are the only ones I look at anymore. And sometimes "Nutrition."

Re: Reoccurring Lower Back Injury - Need help

Herniated discs gave me similar symptoms (sitting, mornings). Stretches and a McKenzie roll worked.

For a while, though, it seemed like many questions were answered with, "Use the search function," which is an attitude that turns people away.

There's no point to having a discussion forum if the...

when lifting really, really

heavy weights, sometimes the bar flexes and bounces. Like in this video of Ivan Stoitsov https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GprIIQQwz8 (WFS).

Does this bouncing pose a danger to the lifter's spine,...

FWIW.

A guy who has a pretty good reputation for knowing his way around exercise equipment once told me that dropping a bar is bad for the bearings, and that people you see dropping bars can do it...

All I've read are a few of the messages in this thread. :D

Bottom line is, based on anecdotal evidence I've gathered from a few acquaintances, is that people who went gluten-free resolved issues...

Re: Elbow pain---maybe tendonitis?

Last time I had this the doc prescribed a wrist brace to wear overnight. Eventually the pain went away, after a couple months. Evidently, the trouble originated with a problem in my wrist/hand but...
