Re: What is the Crossfit consensus on dead hang shoulder position?

Carl Paoli talked about this a bit at his seminar and reiterated what KStarr said to the T.

I had been teaching strict pull ups to start and finish to a "supported" shoulder position but have been...

Knee instability/ giving out

Hey all.

Would love your thoughts on this:

For the past few weeks occassionally throughout the day my left knee will sort of buckle underneath me while walking. It seems to happen mostly after...

Re: Getting Customized Affiliate Apparel

I think this is a good concept but constructive feedback, I would use 50/50 or tri blend tees and drop your pricing. I'd have to charge $30 for a tee or tank to make any money.

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

Really wish this WOD was regular pull ups.....I can butterfly all day but not C2B.

I would have loved to see some sort of progression of skill. Like first increment would be pull ups, second...

Re: 2013 Open, Regionals and Games Thread

I would not be at all surprised if we saw 11.3. AMRAP Squat clean thruster (squat clean n jerk) in 5 mins 165/110.

Re: Open 13.1 vs. Open 12.1 and 12.2

I wish I could add the two from 2012 together for my 2013 score lol.

2012- 105 burpees plus 60 snatches

2013-150 Still can't hit 100 lbs

Re: Reducing FRAN

I would scale the thrusters to a weight you can do unbroken. I have a respectable RX time for a woman (4:54) but did my last Fran with 55 lbs cus I was pretty certain I could go unbroken and did. ...

Re: Advanced Olympic Lifting Certification (AOLC)

What is required to host one of these certifications Leo? I am sure one of the larger central PA boxes would be interested! I am too small or would ask!

Re: What New Movements Will We See This Year?

Yes, in 2011 there was an OHSQ/bar facing burpee WOD.

I think we'll see more of the same box jumps, pull ups, snatch, cleans, KB swings....the bread and butter movements.

I think the skilled...

Re: Back Squat, Deadlift & Double Unders

For the DUs, keep your elbows in close to your body and spin from the wrists. Its just a quick flick of the wrist really. Also, try not to have any tension in your shoulders and back. Try to relax.

Re: Bar size

Yes, get the Bella bar. It is a great bar. We have some smaller men who prefer to Oly lift with it because of the smaller diameter......easier to hook grip.

Re: Winning the warm up

Your warm up should not be anyone's work out in my opinion, and I see this vary greatly from box to box.

I don't think pull ups, burpees, box jumps and the like belong in any warm up.

Warm ups...

Re: Can I gain mass from crossfit if I'm eating enough?

Do you tolerate dairy well? If so I would recommend quite a bit of whole milk to your diet as well as lots of healthy fats. For someone your age and activity level, I think you'd do well consuming...

Re: Keeping the mats clean

I use Simple Green Professional. It is a disinfectant/fungicidal/virucidal cleaner. Staph and ringworm are crazy contagious so I would definitely recommend something like this over just soap.

Re: Catering to regular folks?

I think "regular folks" are the bread and butter of most GF gyms. We only opened in Sept abd are up to about 60 members and our retention has been vary good. I pride myself in our programming,...

Re: Implementing teens in regular classes

I think it really depends on the child and your programming. I have two 15-16 year olds that come with their parents to our beginner classes and do not want to participate in our teen class.

At...
