Re: Knee crunching with straight feet in squat

Just keep in mind that everyone's body is different, and there is no one size fits all in squatting form, or any exercise form for that matter.

Re: CrossFit is not a sport

This is a question I've always had. Why does everyone volunteer to work the games? Are you compensated in any way? I know there are plenty of people making money off the games, so it doesn't seem...

Re: Deadlift stalled

If you've been stuck there a long time, then the issue could be in your head. Next time you do heavy deadlifts, use a bunch of random plates and dont' add up the weight. Keep going until you fail,...

Re: What can I do on my days away from the box?

Weighted lunges. One of my favorites when I travel is 1/2 mile of lunges, with 10 pushups every 10 lunges. No equipment needed, and it will really strengthen the legs.

Re: Crossfit vs. Regular Weight Training

Genetics will play a large role in this. Person A and Person B can have the exact same programming, eat the exact same meals, and both recover well, but they could potentially have very different...

Re: Crossfit vs. Regular Weight Training

The OP never stated his goals, so there's no way to recommend a program. Besides, how can you define either? What is 'regular weight training'? Well, that could be 1,000,000 different things.

What...

Re: Companies providing CrossFit to employees?

My employer pays for our gym membership at any gym in town, but they won't do Crossfit. They'll pay $70/month, but the $150 for Crossfit is too much for them.

Re: Lowering Fran time

I didn't see the words 'rest' or 'recovery' anywhere in your plan. You're doing an absurd amount of work, and without any rest you're going to overtrain and get injured and/or sick.

****Edit -...

Re: Crossfit primarily for aesthetics?

If you train to perform well, the looks will follow. 99.99999% of top tier athletes have a 'good' body. Here's a good formula for your workout:

1. Whatever you workout routine you choose to do,...

Re: Deadlift to start Cleans and Snatches?

You may also benefit from doing some more "explosive" work. I had a similar issue with my front squat and clean ratio, and in addition to technique work, I worked on some weighted jumping exercises...

Re: SEAL Fit

Sealfit is great, but some of the workouts are pretty long so be prepared for that. Gym Jones also has some great "Operator" specific workouts on their site.

Re: Locking joints

I wouldn't lock out your knees on a leg press. If the knee hyper-extended at all with a heavy leg press, that would be a recipe for a whole world of pain. With a back squat you can dump the weight,...

Re: Gym doesn't allow Olympic Lifts

When I was in college (VaTech), I went to one of the local gyms and skipped the rec center. They'll usually give you a great price because they know you have free access to the school gym. I think I...

Re: strict pull ups before kipping? video included

I watched that video and wasn't impressed. I would have liked to see an anti-Crossfit fitness/exercise guru on the panel. They all have a Crossfit bias, so it doesn't seem like there much room for...

Re: OHS Help

:yeahthat:

In addition to the stretching, the shoes made all the difference for me. I don't know the mechanics behind it, but after a few weeks of squatting with Oly shoes, my squat form WITHOUT...

Re: Vitamin C decreases training efficiency

I'm no scientist, but it seems like "14 men" would not be a sufficiently large sample size. I just read the abstract, so maybe there's more in the paper itself.

I'm still going to keep drinking my...

Re: Most efficient conditioning exercise?

1:1 effort:rest intervals on the airdyne, at 80-90% max effort. That will condition any athlete.

Re: Any experience with recovery from deep overtraining syndrome? Help...

I had a similar problem when I was in racing road bikes. One winter I went crazy, rode too much, and overtrained myself to the point where I didn't want to ride at all. And when I did ride, I was...

Re: Increasing the volume of your workout.

I say go for it. We can all speculate about the volume/intensity of what you're doing now, but only YOU know what you're capable of. Personally, I don't attend a Crossfit gym because I like and can...

Re: Crossfit Oly Lifter Shoes

If you have normal/narrow feet, get the Adipowers. I got mine a week ago, and the difference is amazing. I had been lift in minimal running shoes, and the difference is incredible.

I compare it to...

Re: OHS Help

This is a common problem, and one that I just finished dealing with. For me, it was poor flexibility in my shoulders, ankles, and hips. This is what I do to stretch each of those joints:

1....

Re: cant do a pullup

One thing that helped my wife was changing her mental game. Instead of trying to pull your chin over the bar, tell your body to pull the bar to your chest. For one reason or another, this activates...

Re: Are Kipping HSPU really more work done

Yeah, that does make sense. So kipping the HSPU is less efficient, looks kinda ridiculous, and builds LESS muscle and strength. I'm glad I stick to strict...even though I can only do a few.
