Re: disinfectant?

I was often wondering this myself. I am a tattoo artist/enthusiast and am super paranoid about bloodbourne pathogens. The only time I am thankful that everyone in my friends garage gym is too lame to...

Re: Slow and controlled first pull?

Think I need to first work on getting that first pull right, hips and shoulders up at the same time(not "table-topping" hips coming up to fast). Then there is that pesky problem of breaking to early...

Re: Slow and controlled first pull?

The club I am going to has me doing the first pull very slowly, almost like a static lift up untill the hang position. But I should mention that I am an extreme novice. Got vids but am to chicken to...

Re: Active Isolated Stretch

I understand, you don't wan't to prescribe anything specific because you have not screened me and therefore don't know of any particular issues I may have.

In a perfect world, I would be able to...

Slow and controlled first pull?

Is this just a training exercise or is it always meant to be applied? Seems like a lot of experienced lifters "rip" off the floor. What problems can occur from pulling too quickly?

Re: Cheap Metal Olympic-type Plates in Kilos

With lbs or kilos as the "nice" whole-number unit? The W.I. plates at my friends house have both measures marked, 5 kg or 11 bs, 10 kg or 22 lbs and 15 kg or 33 lbs. There were no full size plates, I...

Re: Cheap Metal Olympic-type Plates in Kilos

Yeah I wonder what globo-gyms and cheap home gyms in Europe(or anywhere else but the US!) have in the way of metal plates. Small garage gym I go to now has a few of the Weider International plates....

Looks like I recieved zero hits when I put this term in the search engine. Anybody out there familiar with this technique? I am liking it so far.

One day I will have the ultimate set-up consisting of Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, and Gymnastics sections.

For the first two, I want every weight measure to be in kilos. For PL, I would...

Re: Cheap "Technique Plates" made with Plywood?

True, one could lower the weight w/o dropping. I was thinking of trying to make them like the real deal. Those can be dropped from overhead correct? Maybe there is a reason they are soooo expensive.

Cheap "Technique Plates" made with Plywood?

I've seen a few of these on youtube. Anybody here ever do that?

Any ideas for making it a "bumper plate"? I was thinking of trying to do that by making a disk about 2 inches less in diameter than...

Re: Exercises to help my muscle up?

So what is your opinion on kipping pull-ups? I have been avoiding them for this exact reason. Sucks because I can't do many strict at all, but still the number is going up.

Am I really missing...

Re: Painting rubber bumper plates

Thanks for all the responses. Should I use the colored electrical tape or duct?

Looks like it is possible to paint rubber with this new product. If it wasn't so darned expensive I might give it a...

Painting rubber bumper plates

Being on a budget, I can't afford the fancy colored training plates so black rubber bumpers will have to do for now.

I really want to them to have the IWF color coding so I figure I will try to...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

Sorry to dig up the thread, but I was curious as to whether there is a version of this for the jerk. Look at the video posted at about the 2:28 mark. It shows Lu Yong warming up for C&J with the bar....

Re: how important is the bench press in cross fit?

When I first decided to be semi-serious about my lifting I was doing a Westside type routine. With the other two lifts I easily made gains but for the bench breaking plateaus was and still is tough.

Re: Article on history of the press

Wow, very informative! It would be neat if they made the push-press a competitive lift. Allowing this would eliminate all of the issues of just how much deviation from a strict press should be...
