Re: Anyone using "Beyond the white board"

Alex,

Sorry I didn't back to you earlier. I didn't get a reply notification and I don't check this all the time.

In terms of overall training it's helped me just remember where I started how I have...

Re: Anyone using "Beyond the white board"

I use it all the time to record my lifts and workouts. Easy to access on a phone. I've been using it for years so I'm only paying $3 a month for it which is super easy to justify. Plus I like that I...

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

So here's a thought about the teams regarding the injury aspect. What if teams were allowed to have one alternate male and female athlete available incase someone gets injured? You wouldn't swap them...

Re: Nagging Shoulder Pain During Strict Press

I second what Sean said. I had pretty much the exact same thing and it was diagnosed as bicep tendonitis. I had to stop using it for a few weeks (in addition to icing it multiple times a day) and...

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

Went to the finals last night. Definitely found it far more entertaining then watching on YouTube. Looked like it was going to be a DC Brawler beat down after they took the first 3 matches, but San...

Re: Simple and sinister

Was reading a bunch of the comments and looks like a few people were doing the basic 5/3/1 with it as well. Looks like something that could be good for traveling purposes, or just to take a break...

Re: AtLarge Nutrition Announcement

Chris,

Any word on your new deal? I was checking the website and I didn't see an update yet so I figured I would check in with you here.

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Watching all those teams try to swim with that thing is one of the funniest and silliest things I think I have seen in a while. Why not just do a raft with oars? Right now it's a ton of people do...

Re: AtLarge Nutrition

Alex,

You're definitely not the only one. Same sort of thing happened to me and my friend. After getting the run around and having to send a lot of emails I received part of one order and just...

Re: 14.5 tips and strategies

13:10

Did the first set of thrusters unbroken and then broken up the 18 and 15's into sets of three parts (I don't remember the numbers. I would just stop when I felt my shoulders starting to get...

Re: 14.5???

What about something similar to Kalsu? 100x 135lbs thrusters for time, but 5 burpees at the beginning of each minute.

You could turn that into a say 10 minute WOD of as many thrusters as possible...

Re: 14.3 tips and strageties. Jump or step?

Agreed. I tested it out last night with step ups and I think it's the smart way to go unless you can do box jumps all day long. For me it was almost like an active rest period and I was able to go...

Re: Milk ???

Yeah, when I got the 2nd test done I was honestly surprised the fat % had not gone up (I was also surprised I was 6% to start with and I don't have a freaking full 8 pack, but that's genetics I...

Re: Milk ???

Thanks. I was pleasently surprised to say the least.

I've been doing some metcons as well, mainly sticking to what our gym does during the week. Probably about 2-3 per week. Schedule would like...

Re: Milk ???

So, been doing the half-GOMAD for the past month or so and the results so far have been pretty nice. Did a hydrostatic test two months ago and then yesterday and I added 2.55lbs of muscle and .05lbs...

Re: Milk ???

Quick question on how people add this into this daily meal plan. Right now I'm starting with half-GOMAD and I'm just adding a glass or so to each meal I eat during the day. Is that what most people...

Re: How does this 5/3/1 & Crossfit split look

Having the initial same thoughts as you did Jesse, I found that doing all those 5x10s and the assistance work was a quick road to burnout. I decided to shorten down to 3x10s, and I also made one day...

Anyone ever try this stuff? My masseuse recommended it to me and I looked it up. Don't know if I'll try it myself (looks a little expensive), but was looking for opinions on it in case I ever get...

Re: PR Thread

Was messing around with front squats on Wednesday and decided to see if I could up my 1 rep max. Went from 275 to 285.

Re: Timeline for building strength before Games

Jeff,

Understood. More I think about it I think I'm going to stick with the back squat for another round. Actually enjoyed squatting during the period, though there were some days I didn't want to...

Re: Timeline for building strength before Games

Thanks. Before starting the program I would usually front squat (for strength) about once a week. Typically a 3x5 or something. During the Smolov program I avoided it though so I wouldn't overload my...

Re: Timeline for building strength before Games

So, just to give everyone an update on how the program went. Finished the cycle last week and nailed a PR of 30lbs on my back squat from 325 to 355. Also got 325 for a 3 rep max. :kicking0:

Was...

Glenn and Dustin,

Roger on the foam rolling and stretching. Everywhere I read about it as well recommends the heck out of both of those.

Thanks again for the advice. I'll let everyone know how it...

Re: Timeline for building strength before Games

All,

Thanks for the inputs. I definitely think focusing a little more on squatting and the olympic movements is probably the way to go. I'm going to touch base with my box coaches and run some of...

Re: Timeline for building strength before Games

Nothing terribly spectacular, but here are some that I can think of off the top of my head. Background is swimming growing up (sprinter) so anything in that regards I'm fine with. Not the world...
