Re: Gslp

So, I haven't done GSLP for about a month because our gym was renovating and didn't have the extra space and I was also preparing for a competition and wanted to get in a little more metcon work....

Re: Gslp

Did 2 sets of 25 w 5lbs yesterday on the neck harness. I definitely feel it a little, nothing too bad though. I also did 36 HSPUs yesterday and those tend to make me sore as well. Think I'm gonna...

Re: Gslp

Yeah, I've read all the warnings. I was just gonna start w 5lbs at first and slowly work up once I see how it feels later. I browsed through GSLP, looks like he suggested 3 days a week (M/W/F) does...

Re: Gslp

Swole recommends ~9 fist sized portions of rice or other carbs per day. How were you keeping up w that doing 90% paleo?

Re: Gslp

So I did about 2.5 months of GSLP and pretty much did no CrossFit WODs the entire time, really focused on getting my strength up. I decided to take this week, do the programming at my box and just...

GHD, TTB, KTE, Ab wheel, russian twists holding a weight. Those are the ones I sprinkle in.

Re: Gslp

that is correct. I started this week doing full snatches at a lighter weight and tomorrow is cleans. I backed the weights down on GSLP too and am working on keeping proper form.

I can power snatch...

Re: Gslp

So just to be clear, because there was confusion on terminology before. Full lift = taken from the ground and into a full squat?

Re: Gslp

So, I first of all think I need to drop down the weight and focus more on technique because it doesn't look as smooth as it should.

Anyway, high bar or low...

Re: Gslp

I thought power meant it came from the ground in one fluid motion. Hang meant you start with it off the ground. And it was simply a power/hang clean or power/hang snatch if you don't catch it in a...

Re: Gslp

So wait, everything was always from the hang? Because you can power squat snatch/clean as well.

Re: Gslp

So, you always did squat cleans and squat snatches? Because I never go all the way down unless a WOD calls for it. Even when I go super heavy I never bottom out. Maybe I need to work on that some...

Re: Gslp

I've seen that picture before and still have no idea. I should probably video myself sometime. From your description of the first move, I'd say I probably HBBS.

Re: Gslp

I honestly don't know if I high bar or low bar. I'd assume high based on there the barbell seems to sit. I just thought a front squat would translate more for thrusters and heavier cleans.

As for...

Re: Gslp

So, would you still progress each week by adding 2.5 or 5lbs to the clean & snatch?

I don't like the idea of only back squatting once a week because that's my favorite lift, but I never front squat...

Re: Gslp

I think I might do front squats one of the two squat days too actually.

Is there any type of rep scheme I should follow for the snatch and clean work?

I've just been doing sets of 3 at gradually...

Re: Gslp

So I've come up with a routine for me starting Monday.

I'd like to get stronger, and also get rid of some bf so I combined the fasted cardio in the morning with GSLP, as well as some OLY training...

Re: Gslp

My max now is 145, I'd really like to add 30lbs to that. Will just working my upper body strength with bench/press/dips/chins combined with working sub max technique on the snatch be my best...

Re: Gslp

So, if the Open has taught me anything it's that I definitely need to get stronger, specifically my upper body. 13.1 killed me, otherwise I'm pretty happy with my results.

I'm going to take the next...

Re: Gslp

So, with the Open coming everything else it taking a bit of a back seat. I don't want to completely abandon my strength but I don't want to be tired/sore for when we do the Open WODs on Thursday and...

Re: Gslp

My dips are definitely a weakness as well. We just had a competition last weekend and my press (shoulder press in a chipper and a thruster ladder) was to blame for not finishing better. I already try...

Is there any supplemental work I can do, or maybe swap out the shoulder press schedule entirely for something else? My shoulder are not getting much stronger compared to all my other lifts and they...
