Re: Wall Ball question
Not sure if it's right but I jump when I do wall balls, although less now that I can use my arms more. I'm relatively short and light at 5'8", 160#.

Re: When to wear a lifting belt
I did a bunch of reading on weight belts recently including searching here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The conclusions I got were that weight belts help move more weight but do not increase...

Re: Double Unders
Sound is an important cue for me. It tells me how hard the rope is hitting the floor, the relative timing of my jump and the rope movement, rope speed from the whishing through the air, etc.
I do...

Re: 205 Snatch Fail (Agonizingly Close)
I'm at nowhere near this level but I had a serious mental block at 135#. I knew I had more in me though so one day when working up to a 1RM I failed at 135 and just went on to 140 and made it. It's...

Re: Usefulness of wall balls
There is also a stability element to wall balls. There is a certain amount of randomness to the motion that isn't found in KB swings or thrusters which are relatively similar but more controlled...

Re: A much better scoring system for the Games.
I think the current system would be fine if they didn't cut the number of competitors.
If they want to showcase the top athletes in some kind of grand finale, let the remaining athletes do the WODs...

Re: Testing Fitness and Removing Judging Problems
I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Chatman.
I think that one of the most amazing aspects of crossfit competition is that so many shapes and sizes can compete in the same event. I think that with the...

Re: Crossfit's definition of health
Crossfit is by far the safest sport I have ever done although that's compared to climbing, skiing, mountain biking, skateboarding and even soccer. Crossfit is done in an incredibly controlled...

Re: Crossfit's definition of health
I was being facetious and playing on some of the criticisms I've read of movements used in crossfit.
A lot of KB advocates think that swinging to shoulder height is adequate and that going above the...

Re: Crossfit's definition of health
Crossfit is based on doing movements that shouldn't be used for conditioning metcons. How long is the list now?
kipping pullups (don't even think about doing them with a weighted vest)
Olympic...

Re: Curing Pull-up Asymmetry
Do pullups with the strong arm holding a towel wrapped around the bar. Most of the pull will come from the arm on the bar. It's a technique for developing one arm pullups.

Re: Squatting Variations
How heavy are the sandbags? We do goblet squats with kettlebells every once in a while. 2.5 pd is as heavy as we've got. I do like the idea of working with awkward objects. Gets you out of the...

Re: How can this be??CF Games scoring
So if only one person completes every workout but does poorly in all the others they should win? They would have to get really generous with the time caps if they want to start weighting the WODs...

Re: How can this be??CF Games scoring
I don't think he's saying that it there wasn't a precedent or that it was a surprise, just that he thinks it's unfair. He sort of has a point but there will always be drawbacks with any scoring...
