Re: Need some help - 25 y.o high BP, back probs

I've had 140/90 BP since I was 18 even though I run etc. Nothing to do with fitness just bad genes. I take 1/2 Avapro a day and I'm fine. So don't panic.

Re: Shoulder dislocates when Punching Hard

Re: Headaches

You're possibly cricking your neck somehow, hunching your shoulders/traps and giving your neck grief. Think about what you're doing next time and maybe work on relaxing certain bits of you. Maybe a...

Re: Blood Pressure and CV exercise.

Exercise may not do it. It may be diet - what's his salt intake like. It could be hereditary - mine is. Is he on meds? There is a DASH diet for reducing blood pressure. Its on the web.

Re: Protein requirements

Hi Kevin from down under! As someone once said to me there are seasons in life for everything! I've tussled between endurance and sprinting and body building.
And still do. Age sorts some of it...

Re: Diatomaceous Earth as a supplement

We mine this in WA. We use it for kitty litter/soaking up oil spills and I've ordered 150 kg for use as a potting mix component. It has a high cation exchange capacity ie it hangs onto nutrients. ...

Re: Plantar Fasciitis

I've been playing tic tac between PF, achilles tendonitis and posterior tibial tendonitis (PTT). For the moment I've abandoned my Nike Frees, gone very carefully about any one legged leg work, held...

Re: Maximum Heart Rate, for how long?

No you're not left field at all. I had a max stress test done once, many universities offer it if they have a physed degree. Many runners will run multiple hill repeats in an effort to get close...

Re: Why is is it good to go outside?

Inside you have to contend with reused air, Legionnaires, ozone from printers etc, UV from fluoro's. Maybe noise from others, sitting, inactivity.

I don't believe its good for our bodies to be in...

Re: Maximum Heart Rate, for how long?

As others have said max HR is an individual thing, the generic formula could be 20% out for you. Feeling jittery is more likely dehydration, blood sugar, electrolytes.

Re: Why the general public knows nothing about nutrition

Sometimes you have to appreciate the level of those you are working with. Its a start! I am a member on another forum (Australian) and there are regular posts on what foods are protein and other...

Re: how to peel a hard boil egg

Freshness is the main determinant of how hard it is to peel an egg as previously stated. The fresher the more difficult, it has to do with chemical reactions and the separation of the shell from the...

I must admit I'm struggling with belly fat but I'm 50, nearly 51 and going through menopause. I don't eat starchy carbs at night but I do drink too much wine. I've also had a couple of significant...

Re: Interesting Research

If I restrict carbs by between 36 and 48 hours I have a raging headache which no amount of painkillers will get rid of, I'm spacey like a drunk and then it takes me 3 days to get over it. ...

Re: Interesting Research

I think you also need to take careful note of the subjects in these studies. Many are obese, many have existing problems eg cholesterol and in many studies exercise isn't a component of the trial,...

Re: menstral cycle and training

I have never made any concessions for mine, never needed to. Basically ignored them.

The only thing I often notice is I'll have a really bad run, like feeling as though I'm running through treacle,...

Re: Chronic shoulder issue (supraspinatus)

I've just been diagnosed with three tears, one supraspinatus, 2 infraspinatus. My physio told me tears do not repair. They heal but the split and hence weakness is still there. So I am on rehab...
