Re: Small guy with no comparison or something

The NBC Olympics site has height and weight for all the athletes at the Games.

The 5'4" weightlifters are all quite a bit heavier than you. The 62 kg (137#) class seems to be mostly in the...

Re: Controlling your ego and your drive?

Or else you won't, and sooner or later you'll seriously injure yourself.

The impact of being a slacker during one workout is much smaller than the impact of missing a month because you didn't know...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

A lawyer once told me that you should never sign a contract with someone you don't trust. Sure, if they break the contract you can sue, but win or lose it will still cost you huge amounts of time and...

It's also not beyond the realm of possibility that he is balking at the suggestion that he should pay *her* for clear ownership of *his* company. That happens in divorces, too.

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

My position? I don't have one, really. I don't own an affiliate. I don't care whether the one I train at has a Crossfit sign over the door or not, and trust the owner to make the decisions that work...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

As I said up thread, Anthos' motives are pretty simple. I suspect both of the Glassmans have a much more complicated view of things.

I don't know them, so I'm not going to speculate except to say...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

It's very difficult to keep an owner who wants out from selling their share to whoever they like, absent a pre-existing buyout agreement. And it's naive to think that a 50% owner won't want a say in...

Re: ADVICE NEEDED: Kids and the Box

Unsupervised kids don't belong on the floor while the adults are working out. Period. It's dangerous for everyone concerned.

So either you need to provide adequate supervision or you need to hold...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

On the other hand, the relationship between the current owners has clearly soured somewhat. A new shareholder wouldn't have *that* history, either.

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

Note also that this would be true with *any* divided ownership, including the current structure. So if Mrs. Glassman retained her stake, but didn't like the way CF Inc. was being run, she would also...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

On the other hand, plenty of businesses find their unique culture to be an important asset and go out of their way to preserve it. While a new equity partner certainly *could* influence the corporate...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

I don't know enough about any of the parties to form an opinion.

I would say that Anthos probably has the clearest motivation of any of the parties: they want to make lots of money, and will pursue...

Re: Nike Romaleos Vs. Reebok Olys

Why would you use *any* oly shoes for double unders or box jumps? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me...

Re: Constant or Varied Warmup?

If your warmup is challenging, it isn't a warmup. By definition.

Re: Constant or Varied Warmup?

Oh yeah, definitely also a mental preparation factor. For me, warming up for a competition the same way that I would for training (and the same way before each training session) helps keep the...

Re: Constant or Varied Warmup?

Note that most professional athletes have a much narrower range of workouts than Crossfit WODs, however, and so using the same warmup every time may make more sense.

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

Yes, it would be desirable for the contract to be written in that way.

But I would bet that more often than not, the contract is extremely vague if it even exists. Especially when the ownership...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

And the evidence for this claim is? They're an investment firm: why wouldn't they be willing to stand back and let a model that's working continue to work?

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

Looks that way to me, too. If you want to maintain control of the company, you have to maintain ownership as well. People who have equity have a right to do what they want with it, including selling...

Re: Paleo when traveling-help

The Whole Foods deli/hot bar is good, fast, and posts the full ingredients list for every item. Worth seeking out. If you're in the Northeast, Wegman's might be worth a look as well.

Breakfast:...

Lunch today was a green salad with cherries and apricots, and a big bowl of homemade broccoli potato soup.

Re: Is Vomiting Really Okay?

The truth comes out...

Given the strength numbers you've posted, there is nothing wrong with your core.

I'd suggest always trying to do one more rep than you think you can. So if you think you can...

Re: Is Vomiting Really Okay?

I don't think throwing up is the end of the world, but I do think it should be avoided. It's a tremendous stress on the system.

Given that light jogging will make some people queasy if they have the...

Re: What does EMOM develop?

Some oly programs use EMOM training to improve consistency at relatively heavy weights.
