Re: Crossfit Certified Instructor Database?

This seems like a ridiculous notion to be dwelling on. What difference would it make?

Re: Type of rowing machine

Definitely. I've seen some poor ones but they'd still do the job decently enough. For sure in Phoenix you can get 'em for $50 from time to time so maybe in other places too.

Re: Charles Poliquin on Crossfit

I think we are arguing different things.

I am not saying the CSCS or HFI are all that great, certainly you can get those without knowing much about legit training. I'm just saying they're...

Re: Charles Poliquin on Crossfit

I am not going to bust out my friend by naming names but one of my fairly close friends is a level 3 and he had it handed to him (in his own words). He is a decent coach though overall. I wouldn't...

Re: Charles Poliquin on Crossfit

That much is for sure. Certs are bogus but a CSCS or HFI is far more relevant than a CF Level 1-3, CPT, USAW, RKC, etc.

Re: equipment or cert

I'm on the equipment side of the argument. There are lots of ways to learn how to teach and a 2 day seminar is not necessarily going to do it.

The equipment keeps on giving.

Re: Type of rowing machine

That style of rower is most definitely not something I would pay money for and I am not a CrossFit/C2 total devotee.

Those old hydraulic rowers should be considered for no more than free in...

This is also the USAW protocol for certification.

Re: Charles Poliquin on Crossfit

This Bennett, he brings some facts to the matter.

All certifications are rackets but some are still recognized as more legit than others for a reason.

Re: Any suggestions on increasing split stretch flexibility?

Yeah, Kurz is the real master of this stuff. I'd wager he is Pavel's main influence.

That said, Pavel communicates ideas with better clarity.

Re: Not sure how good (or bad) this is

I'm not saying it's good or bad but out of curiosity: why specifically two lettuce leafs?

Re: Any suggestions on increasing split stretch flexibility?

I'd look for Pavel Tsatsouline's Beyond Flexibility book or DVD. Or his Beyond Stretching DVD set.

That material is covered at length and better than I've seen anywhere else.

Re: Any opinions on Lifecore R900 Rowing Machine

We've got an older model at the gym I work at and it is good.

I have a C2 at home and I would say the C2 is maybe a little smoother and the footplates on the Lifecore have a tendency to come...

Re: How much should a tire weigh?

600 is about right for a decently strong male who weighs 165-185. Get it.

Re: Ivanko, werksan, anyone know where I can get these

I have some vintage York bumpers that weight 55lbs each that are at least 7" wide I'd guess. They look like golf cart tires in my garage.

Re: Lifting while Wrestling

I'd support Damon's program.

Just 'cause I've worked with lots of young wrestlers and they don't seem to burn out easily at all and they are going to do some lifting anyway (you just can't stop...
