Re: Affiliate Software

Any software that has keytag/scanner for attendance. It would make checking in to class a bit more convenient for our athletes.

Re: Programming for your affiliate

We program Monday through Saturday.

Our strength program gets a designated rest day on Thursday and we are closed on Sunday.

We usually program a 25-30 minute chipper on Thursdays, and every other...

Re: Crossfit gloves

The Reebok gloves tear fairly quickly.

I use to go with regular batting gloves ($15-20) and/or football gloves ($20-25) which you can always find on sale.

Lately for pull ups I've been using...

Re: Out of the Red/Member sign up

We are running purely on word of mouth at the moment, waiting on affiliation to actually start our marketing blast. Hopefully get word back from HQ in the next couple of weeks.

Re: LegalZoom and Other Legal Mumbo Jumbo

We took a chance with LegalZoom, and it worked out just fine. They assigned a rep to us and he was there throughout the process to answer any questions we had.

Re: Biggest Obstacle(s)

Politics aside (Red tape with LLC paperwork, business license, etc), the biggest obstacle has been equipment.

We had to sit back and order upon signing of the lease. Most equipment suppliers charge...

Re: New gym - Class hours

We started with peak hours classes from Monday through Thursday (6:30pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm). Friday we wouldn't hold a class, and we would have a 9:00am class on Saturdays.

We had monthly, weekly and...

Re: Athletes doing extra workouts

Turning them away wasn't an option, organization/scheduling is important. If you schedule it our conclusion is they will come.

Re: Athletes doing extra workouts

Spoke about this same issue with my partners last night. Solution is a late class (8:30pm) where we would workout with an advanced WOD, and Open Gym will be an option.

All 4 of us are "advanced",...

Re: Managing different levels of athletes: open gym or class only?

This was one of my concerns.

Even with a big facility, there is always interest from beginners when advanced people are doing "bigger/better" things.

It's an experiment we are looking forward to...

Re: Due Date on Annual Affiliation fee?

Simple yes/no would've sufficed, haha.

Just curious, since it seems like the process may take some time with essay approval and then name approval.

Re: Due Date on Annual Affiliation fee?

Can you open a facility with the Crossfit name and then apply for affiliation six months to a year down the road?

Re: Barbell club vs CF... Thoughts, suggestions, experiences...

Do you already train or have a base for clientele?

CF is growing, so the "saturation" is going to happen. You can always go CF and offer Oly training as well as other programming.

In the end,...

Re: $3000 annual affiliation fee???

Close to a calendar year, we have about 30 committed members and another 30 that "drop in".

It was getting difficult to program with the limited space we had. It was time. Finding a facility was a...

Re: Initial membership offerings

Current plan is to grandfather all of our members that have been in our garage at a lower price point. We are going to offer "Grand Opening" prices once we open our new facility.

Then have a...
