Re: Starting to feel beat up while leaning out. What to change?

True, it might not proof how many maintenance calories I need. But at a deficit of 500 calories per day, I've pretty much linearly lost 1 pound consistently for 10 weeks. Yes, that is also not...

Re: Starting to feel beat up while leaning out. What to change?

That's just the program I'm doing since being focusing on leaning out. Basically it's one of the programs in the GSLP book with only 2 squat stets instead of 3, to reduce the volume a bit.. and some...

Re: Starting to feel beat up while leaning out. What to change?

Good advice. But been doing that since I started the diet.

Re: Starting to feel beat up while leaning out. What to change?

I'm 182, 6 feet tall. The calories is a surplus. 2600 would be maintenance, tested it out for two weeks and was maintaining weight with that. 2000 calories 6 days a week. One day I'm a lot more...

Starting to feel beat up while leaning out. What to change?

For the past 3 months I've been trying to lean out. Made good progress, down from 89kg to 83kg. Initially everything felt good, but for the past 2 or 3 weeks, I've been feeling a bit beat up. Warming...

Sorry for the bad quality and the video being so dark. Hope it's still possible to do a form check. Thanks

Inov-8 240 too narrow in the back. Recommendations for alternatives?

I know lots of people find them too narrow in the front, which doesn't seem to be the problem for me. They somehow feel to narrow in the back. It feels like the inward facing back part is not fully...

Weightlifting shoe sizes

Order the Adidas Power Perfect 2, wore them for one or two workouts but then noticed that when the weight is on the front of the foot, I slip a bit in the back. Not much, but just enough for it to be...

Power Clean

Probably not required with that weight, but I'm generally having a hard time getting under the bar fast and deep enough.

Pain from back extensions

Currently doing Texas Method which calls for 5x10 back extensions on light day. It starts to get tougher with the third set. But then during fourth set it gets quite painful mostly in my lower back...

Re: Gslp

Just to play devils advocate: Just because Wendler posts some examples of beginners where it worked, doesn't mean that it works for 100% of the people that try it. I've also seen quite a few reports...

Re: Gslp

Might not happen THAT often that people get weaker on 531, but I've read several people report that issue after a few cycles on it. Might not be common, but I've never heard it for other programs...

Re: Gslp

Thanks, Eric.

Will think a bit more about it. Maybe I will also just give normal 5/3/1 a try for a few months. I just looked at my logs and it doesn't look like I've made more progress than 2.5kg...

Re: Gslp

What about keeping GSLP but for squats doing 3 sets with increasing weight instead of 3 sets across. For example 5x120, 5x130, 5+x140?

Re: Gslp

Thanks! What would you do if you would be in my position though? Switch to 5/3/1, live with slower gains and the fact that it will take a while to get a decent 1RM for pressing and benching? 5/3/1 is...

Re: Gslp

Slowly feeling like it might be time to move onto some other program, especially because of squatting. At 83kg bw my 5RM for the squat is currently 150k and it starts to feel brutal and miserable to...

Re: Gslp

Makes sense. Thanks!

I've also noticed that now with the assistance work training is definitely taking around 75-80 mins + 10-15 mins of mobility work afterwards. Is that in any way unideal? I...

Re: Gslp

Is there any other way to emphasis upper body strength more at the price of slower gains when it comes to squatting and deadlifting? More than bench pressing/pressing and assistance work 3 times a...

Re: Assistance exercises to failure?

As in 1 or 2 reps away from failure? Being able to do fewer and fewer reps with each set is totally fine?

Re: Assistance exercises to failure?

Primarily strength, but a bit of hypertrophy would also be nice. Trying to fix my extremely lagging upper body strength. At 80kg bw, I squat 160kg, deadlift 205kg, but only press 60kg, bench press...

Assistance exercises to failure?

What's typically the recommendation with assistance exercises when doing programs like GSLP, to failure or not? I've definitely noticed that with things like dips, chins or curls the reps get fewer...

Re: Gslp

Any reason why 3-4 and not just 2 sets, like mentioned in the book? Just to get more volume?

Why dips only after pressing and incline bench after bench? Is the point to do an assistance movement...
