Re: RIP Navy SEAL Hero Chris Kyle

Still can't believe it. I was at a shooting range yesterday, had a great time. I got to come home. Chris was just trying to help another veteran.

Prayers for his wife and kids.

Re: {TKA} Total Knee Arthroplasty

I think this is true. I was lifting more weight than my body weight, especially on deadlifts and squats. And I had problems that had to be fixed by additional surgery. Thankfully, the hardware was...

Re: Total Knee Replacement (TKR) Saga

John, it sounds to me that you are doing quite well. I like you range of motion numbers. And just knowing what your "catch" is has to be 90% of the battle to get it fixed. Stay strong. Stay...

Re: {TKA} Total Knee Arthroplasty

Keep up the good work Pete, sounds to me like you're doing it the right way. I have to agree with keeping the weights of dead lifts and squats down a bit, especially the first year.

John, it...

Re: WOD log- paper vs. technology

I've tried two different electronic log books for my WODs. And both times I went back to paper. Maybe I'm a dinosaur, but it is just faster, easier and convenient to reference past WODs. And I...

Re: Total Knee Repalcement

Not sure how to answer your first question. I'm only 18 months into my new knee and I'm having problems with it. Something is wrong but we haven't quite figured it out yet. I'd rather not have to...

Re: Total Knee Repalcement

Hi John,

Welcome to the message board.

I had TKR March 2011, about 18 months ago. I am now 60 years old and I have been crossfitting for a little over 2 years now.

My time in the hospital was...

Re: Total Knee Repalcement

Hang in there. It does get better although it sounds like you are already well on the way to recovery.
I think I was back in the box after 1 month. But of course, like others, I was extremely...

Re: Bilateral Knee Replacement

Laura,

Just curious about you having bilateral TKR. Why did you decide to have both knees replaced at the same time? You are sure doing quite well very soon.

It appears to me that most people...

Re: Total Knee Repalcement

Update on my knee. For four days now I have had less pain since early May. I've been scaling workouts like crazy and trying to work on better ROM. But still cross fitting as well as my PT.

Today...

Re: Total Knee Repalcement

Unfortunately, I'm a having a bit of set back. I have had swelling and pain since early May. I have been back to the doctor and all is well mechanically with my knee. Also I have been back to...

Re: Total Knee Repalcement

I didn't see your report until after I posted.

But good for you. Your progress seems to be really good. I'm sure it will just get better.

Re: Total Knee Repalcement

Hope you all are still recovering well. It has been interesting to read about cross fitter's TKR recoveries and all the progress. If anyone has updates, keep posting.

I've had a small set back...

Re: Total Knee Repalcement

I had a TKR also. Mine was just a little over 1 year ago.
I consider my ROM to be very good and it is largely a result of Crossfit.

I don't run or anything that requires much of a jumping motion...

Re: Over 50 Crossfitters Sign In

Very good. Especially on an artificial knee. I had a TKR also but I'm not close to 435. Good job.

Re: {TKA} Total Knee Arthroplasty

I'm betting you'll do just fine. I had a left TKR one year ago. My knee history is pretty similar to yours. I was a wildland fire fighter, not Army but still hard on knees.

There is good Crossfit...

Re: Knee Replacement Journey

My ROM continued to improve with my Crossfit workouts after I stopped the official PT. I can't tell you what the measurements are now. But I can extend my knee completely straight and I can bend it...

Re: Knee Replacement Journey

Hi Karen,

Sounds like you're doing really well with your new knee. My only advice is to continue CrossFit. It was and still is a big part of my rehab, after I was released from physical therapy. ...

Re: I Need Advise On Competing After Knee Replacements

Dave,

I had a TKR 5 months ago. And next year I will have my other knee replaced. I know that you can go back to CF and not damage the prosthesis. I have discussed this pretty thoroughly with...

Re: What's your timepiece of choice?

Rolex Oyster Perpetual. No winding, no battery. It just keeps going, as long as you wear it.

Not exactly cheap but quite durable. Got mine at the Navy Exchange.

Re: Stage III / IV arthritis in knee and squats

I would keep doing squats. At least modified squats. I don't think they are bad for knee joints, especially if you use a lighter weight on those days you feel arthritis pain. My trainer and...

Re: Any older crossfitters on the boards?

I may be older than some, but only 58. My only advice; just keep it up.
