Re: Lease and rent negotiation

I agree with finding a commercial real estate agent (not a home real estate agent). They'll know the verbage to look for in the contract and can give you fair assessments of whether you're asking...

Re: Crossfit Business Plan

Brian speaks the truth. I opened my gym based on what The BIZ teaches, and it's made a huge difference in both our financial solidarity and the happiness of our people.

(And yes, I work as an...

Rogue HG collars breaking

Is anyone else having issues with the HG collars (with the red release button)?

We've had 3 of them break so far in less than 6 months- two along the plastic outer ring, and one along a support...

Re: What is your policy on no-shows after booking in.

The policy in the contract (signed by member) states that class is now "used" for the week. So if they are on a 3-times a week plan, now they have 2 left.

For the unlimited folks, I just talk to...

Re: GHD?? York or Rogue?

I'm with Mike- I've got a Rogue GHD, and the pads are so wide that you can put your knees into them doing ham raises, no problem. I love that stupid tank.

Re: No limits timer, what to expect?

Only comment I have is the FGB standard program doesn't beep on the minute, so unless you're staring at the clock while counting reps, its hard to use by yourself. I just changed it to a 17-round...

Re: Help! Does anyone have tricks?

Vacuum, broom, mop, soap.

The side of owning an affiliate most don't see.

Re: No limits timer, what to expect?

We've got one in our gym, I love it. Easy to program, no fuss, easy to read.

Info for new affiliates

It seems like there are alot of questions lately about space, equipment, etc for new affiliates. For those who haven't heard, a business is releasing material soon that will cover nearly all the...

Re: Training Pull-ups and Muscle-ups as a Strength Exercise

William, neither. The grip is neutral and only truly resembles a row.

If you want to practice MU strength on a bar, focus on false-grip pullups. It will crush your forearms, but have a great...

Re: Bar & Plate Packages

Can't go wrong with a custom quote from Rogue.

Affiliate/custom pricing is significantly discounted from list.

Re: Pukie on FB

Right!

Nothing to do with the inflammatory posts that encouraged in-fighting inside our community and did NOTHING to improve the public image.

Re: Zen Planner Users and Merchant Accounts

ZenPlanner + GMS here, easy peasy.

Matt Mussett at GMS is doing some great deals for our members that cannot be beat. They're really easy to communicate with as well if you wanted to drop them an...

Re: Looking for 1st year membership growth numbers from you.

Growth rates are dependent upon SO many things...location, reach, your own ability to pull leads, saturation of boxes, etc.

But don't think for a SECOND that your success or failure is anything...

Re: Using the word CrossFit for a blog/website/facebook group?

While you're free to create a blog about CrossFit, I think using the word "CrossFit" in the website title will throw some red flags.

Re: Zoning Laws help

All it takes is one angry neighbor to make a phone call, and he's got problems on his hands.

Why not just find the right place? Is it really a "perfect" spot?

Re: Wall protection for Hand Stand Push Ups

Plywood and white board work great, and I've seen CrossFit Hollywood use gymnastic mats that are wall-mounted.

Re: Marketing - How to capitalize on Art Walk

Like Katherine said, a simple mailing list signup sheet could do wonders for increasing your bubble of influence.

And the T-shirt art contest is a great way to draw in the artists- or,...

Re: The Official Smolov Support Thread

Be careful...no use hurting yourself!

I thought the 5x 265 was moderate. 4x9 is something else entirely.

Re: The Official Smolov Support Thread

Day 1, Week 1 Base Mesocycle.

4x9 @ 215.

Holy shnikies. 9 rep sets are bloody awful. I wasn't quite seeing stars...but I could definitely feel myself going down that path!

Re: The Official Smolov Support Thread

I'm in the last 3 days of the Intro cycle.

3x 265 isn't exactly easy, but certainly no problem. 5x will be a bit of a challenge tomorrow, but I'm anxious to get to the real weights.

Re: Squat Stands: Rogue vs Pendlay

One of the biggest reasons I prefer the Rogue S-1 over other common designs (like the York FTS) is that the "target" area for the hooks is much larger on the S-1, reducing the likelihood of "misses"...
