Re: Burpees

Does anyone have a sub for kicks to the nuts? My nuts can't handle straight kicks yet, but I'm working towards it by trying advanced parkour moves over rails with no prior experience.

Re: Conditioning programming

Outlaw CrossFit posts a conditioning workout every day. I just add it after my strength work. Great variance in it.

Agreed. This is powerful stuff.

To everyone, let us know who we can send good thoughts to. Our crew at Ramstein Air Base will represent.

Re: Wendler's 5/3/1 and cutting

Nutrition is how you cut fat, not by changing how you work out. You said you've been eating to gain weight....now change it up and eat to lose weight. Lots of vegetables, some meat and fruit.

Re: Return to Training Post Injury - Advice Requested

Medical advice should be your first step.

After that, I would recommend look into Convict Conditioning. Don't let your ego get in the way and follow the progressions at the first level and add a rep...

Re: Sold small gym

Congrats Brendan! Sad day for us on the board though...your opinions are truly valuable but I guess you'll take that knowledge with you. Good luck on the east side of town! Get your next affiliate...

Re: Wendler 5/3/1 Final Plan + Diet Questions

Cam, get creative with cooking methods. You can't do eggs on a stovetop, but you can do them in a microwave. For a few years I'd put four eggs and four handfuls of spinach in a Pyrex bowl and...

Re: Bar Muscle-Up Help!

Mike, what helped me the most was to think about driving my knees up towards my chin. A lot of Kipling muscle-ups is in the legs. The arms will guide you, but use the legs to drive upward.

Re: First month in. I have caught the CF FEVER!

Strength, skill, conditioning...do all three, every day you work out.

When I started I just followed main site which was good, but I could have made many more gains and built a foundation faster had...

Re: Crossfit - Beginning in Riyadh

Hi Shariq,

I've been following the main site WOD for two years. About a year ago I added in some additional strength and it was a tremendous change- my fitness levels greatly improved.

I follow the...

Re: Can you train against blacking out during exercise

Probably a little simplistic for what you're looking for, but to avoid blacking out I use the "G straining maneuver" to combat the head rush after a heavy lift. It's what fighter pilots use to keep...

Re: Hand Tears

I use the Rogue gymnastics grips in any WOD that involves more than 50+ total pull-ups. This really cut down on the problems with torn hands.

Re: CrossFit Resort - If I build it, will they come?

I love the concept. What state would this be in? Temperate climate would be key.

Did you do the artwork yourself?

Split jerk weaker than clean and jerk...

Today I did the Split jerk 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 WOD. About three weeks ago I hit a new max on Clean and Jerk (195), so I figured today I'd shoot for 200-210 range for a new jerk max. However, I wasn't even...

Re: Pistol Mobility According to Carl Paoli

After my first WOD that had pistols owned me, I did the following for no more than 4 minutes before or after my workout each day. Two weeks later I was able to do pistols no problem:

- Pistol...

Re: Overhead Squat help

Which base do you work out at in Ktown? I'm at Ramstein. I'd be willing to meet up and work on form stuff with you at Ramstein or Vogelweh. Send me a PM if interested.

Re: How Do I Deal With Ignorant Bodybuilders Dissing CrossFit?!

Doesn't sound like they're your friends, and you probably aren't working out at the same place, so why interact with them at all? Leave them to their sport and have fun with yours.

Re: Pain in my lower back when attempting l-sits

Are you doing any flexibility work before the L-sits? Tightness in your hamstrings could be causing the pain. Try 3-5 minutes of hamstrings stretches prior to the WOD or L-sit.

I've got the Rogue gymnastics grips and have had good results using them when my hands are sweaty. Recommend them for pull-ups.

Re: Needing to lose a lot of weight...

If your local CrossFit box is a good one, no one will judge you and the community support you'll find to be unbelievable.

I concur with everything everyone said about diet and smoking.

Keep in mind...

Re: Workout in the morning

I WOD in the morning and do "blocks" of skill or flexibility work in the evenings. I try to keep it short. Here's an example:

2 mins handstand hold (use wall if needed)
2 mins L-sit
4 mins hamstring...

Re: Crossfit and Hot Yoga 3x/week each...thoughts?

I do CrossFit (main site) Monday - Friday and Bikram Saturday and Sunday. Once a month I take 4 days completely off. Seems to be working well for me. Probably the placebo effect but I feel that the...
