Re: Buddy Lee vs. Rx Jump Rope

I probably should have written a testimonial quite a while ago. I was first introduced to Rx Jump Ropes at the San Diego/Arizona sectional. We bought 12 ropes from David at that time. Our clients...

Re: Top 10 Ways to Avoid Giving a Client Rhabdo

I agree and you made may of my points better than I did. The so called experts tend to over inflate their own importance when it comes to teaching and supervising human movement. This is...

Re: Top 10 Ways to Avoid Giving a Client Rhabdo

I would disagree a little here. Of course, a novice trainer will have issues dealing with clients with issues such as the ones you describe above, but in my experience, the CSCS's I have dealt with...

Re: Top 10 Ways to Avoid Giving a Client Rhabdo

Trevor,

That all sounds good, but there big flaws in Mr. Nunn's statements. #1 most formal programs that teach exercise physiology or strength and conditioning have their basis in theories based on...

Re: Olympic Lifing shoes

I got some Romeleos for my birthday and love them. My old shoes are Adidas Adistars. The Nikes are more comfortable and feel like they have much more lateral stability. The heals flare out a little...

Leftover Bars from the San Diego/Arizona Sectional

Nearly all of the gear from the San Diego/Arizona sectional sold with the exception of a few Rogue Castro Bars and Rogue Women's bars.

Re: Which Squat Stand is the most Stable?

If you are buying a bunch of items at once, I would consider contacting them to see if they can set up a better shipping rate than the one that shows up on their site, due to the combination of free...

Re: Shipping Costs

I can't speak about the others, but I know if you contact Rogue and are buying multiple items they can ship together and give you a competitive shipping price. Nearly everything is in one warehouse...

Re: "Portable" Bumpers?

If a 7 foot bar does not fit, you could get a decent women's bar and make that work for a while. A Rogue women's or a B&R women's bar would serve you well.

Re: Lifting platform finish

I bought some a couple of months ago at Lowes and the birch was around $40 while the sanded pine was around $30. However, prices do fluctuate often. Plywood was much more expensive after Hurricaine...

Re: Junior Speed Rope

A quick unsolicited note about technique. You should always be on the balls of your feet while jumping rope no matter what rope you are using. When you are on the balls of your feet you can jump much...

Re: Barbell for Home

That is all great advice above. One of the other things to consider is the fact that Rogue only sells reliable, durable products. Some are nicer than others, but even the inexpensive bars will serve...

Re: Lifting platform finish

It is only about $10 more than sanded pine plywood, and seems to hold up a little better. It is only the thin outer layers that are hardwood, but they seem less likely to chip.

Birch plywood also...

Re: Lifting platform finish

I have always been partial to unfinished hardwood plywood. Unfinished medium density fiberboard (MDF) also works well.

The platforms do not look as nice as the finished ones, but I think the...

Re: Studbar installed in a ceiling with strapping.

I would have the same worry that in order to mount the bar securely and safely you would have to tighten the screws to the point where you would bend and crack the drywall. In order to minimize...

Re: Ultimately Fit Plates

Those look like the plates that several of the vendors that market to CrossFit used to sell, they are fine, but the brass inserts are not as durable as the steel inserts that most are using now. ...

Re: Ader Kettle Bell

The Ader kettlebell handles are smooth, but they are not slippery. With a little chalk there should be no issues. I can understand the feeling that you might lose your grip with sweaty hands during a...

Re: Basement Concrete Slab

I would imagine the type of bumper would affect this. Recycled bumpers such as Hi Temp are much softer and may do more to protect the floor, but even with harder bumpers, 3/4 inch should be enough. ...

Re: Equipment For Sale after the San Diego/Arizona Sectionals

We have dropped the prices for the remaining items to ensure that they get sold prior to being shipped.

There are substantial savings on equipment that will be only slightly used....

Re: "Portable" Bumpers?

When we first started we were training people in a park and had to drive weights and bars around.

I assume that you have a standard bed truck.

The plates and bars do not move around that much. In...

Re: Bumper Plates

I do not know about the others, but we really abuse our Hi-Temp bumpers, and they are still like new after being used in a busy affiliate for years.

I have never heard of a Hi-Temp bumper failing.

Re: Shoes...HELP

Nike Free's are nice shoes, but the heels are on the squishy side, and are not as useful for days where there is a significant lifting component.

my first thought was going to be a New Balance racing flat as New Balance is one of the few shoe companies that sells different shoe widths for some models. I am not sure that the particular model...

Re: Buying Rings, KBells, and Med Balls

As far as rings go, we just got the new wooden Rogue rings. They can't be beat for $72 including straps. I can not tell the difference between them and the Norberts rings I bought for $125 without...
