Re: Not so fun question

If the urologist looked and didn't find anything structurally wrong then perhaps you need a referal to a Nephrologist. Could be a more serious kidney disorder or bleeding related to inflammation. ...

Re: bad back pain from iliopsoas

The youtube posting is exactly the stretch I start with (only I don't use the wall or the short shorts). Based on the vid, I would then place the back of my right hand on the outside of my left knee...

Re: bad back pain from iliopsoas

Hey James,
I've had a similar problem before that I fixed with stretches prescribed to me by a chiropractor. Whenever I take too much time off from the stretches the pain comes back. The...

Re: flexibility for head kicks

I agree with Ned. Turn the rear foot outward to open the hips and ease the strain on the kicking leg. You can also lean back to gain a little height. For stretching try to focus on the hamstrings...

Re: Dead lift technique

Thanks for the comments. I do control the motion down and lightly touch the floor. No bouncing for momentum. I am just not doing the "dead" part of the exercise. I think I resorted to this method...

Dead lift technique

Every demonstration that I have seen for dead lifts has been starting with the bar on the floor. I have been in the habit of setting up my bar at the end of the squat rack, lifting it off, and...

Re: To Judo, or not to judo. That is the question.

Judo should give you what you want. But before you start throwing you should learn to fall. One of those things you don't really get with wrestling. A lot of your skills should transfer and give...

Re: Extreme Chest Pain

Better to have the doc tell you its nothing than to take a trip in the ambulance the next time it happens. It doesn't sound like a heart attack because the symptoms cleared up. It does sound a bit...

Re: Crunchy Joints

I have this problem also. I believe the general medical term for this condition is called "crepitus". It occurs with overuse of a joint and age. I've got it in my ankles, hips, and wrists...

Re: Alcohol and training

So the next time I come home from my workout and crack open a cool one I can address the "look" from my wife with "I'm replenishing my b vitamins." That should work. Thanks for the note though. I...

Alcohol and training

This may be obvious to some but I am wondering what the effect of alcohol is on the body after a long workout? Could anybody give me a little pathophysiology on this topic? I have heard that it...

Re: Nutrition for long distance biking

Nope. No salt capsules. He tried some electrolyte replenishment thru Powerade and the various drinks but the sugars turn him off.

Re: Nutrition for long distance biking

Thanks for all the info, I'll pass it along. Seems that he likes to load up hardboiled eggs, bananas and water at the rest stations. I suggested earlier to him that he should add in some fats and...

Nutrition for long distance biking

Hello all,
I am in need of some solid nutritional advice. My dad loves to ride his road bike in century races (in excess of 100 miles) and was asking me what he needs to add to his diet to begin...
