Re: Insulin and LDLs -- Dr. Connelly's CFJ Seminar

Re: Powerlifting WOD

No reason. Though calling it CF would be silly :D

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

Sadly, it's these kind of comments that make other people regard CF as a cult. That sounds more like religion and less like "open source".

Whether CFSB is labeled "Crossfit" or not, is semantics....

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

That's a good question. It is very relevant to people who train for the job (LEO, mil, firefighters). I would probably say that for them a more balanced program is more appropriate. I would still...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

This is a minor point in the discussion in this thread. It is much less important if CFSB is called CF or not. My main point regards the value of adding periodization or planning into the CF...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

Whether these program deviate substantially from the prescription presented by crossfit, is debatable. It is my opinion that they do. This has nothing to do with trademarks, ownership or...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

I don't have a threshold in mind. I don't think that one should exist, either. I was trying to make the point that if the CF prescription is "constantly varied if not random" then CFFB, CFSB, CFWF...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

I think planning and periodization would be very important to a novice, but it would be useful for an advanced trainee as well.
Take a look at Ricky Frausto's (http://rickyfrausto.wordpress.com/)...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

I don't think that "generic periodization" is impossible. I would like to see CF evolve to include a basic template of athletic development, where the basic CF prescription is biased toward specific...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

The goals and specifics are individualized, but the concept of periodization is not. My understanding of the crossfit template and prescription is at odds with periodization.

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

From the theoretical template journal article:
"At first glance the template seems to be offering a routine or regimen. This may seem at odds with our contention that workouts need considerable...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

Ryan, if you follow that prescription (especially the part where it says that you shouldn't follow the template), or draw workouts from a WOD deck, which is random, you would get the same thing (or...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

Can you please elaborate on the distinction between these and how it is implemented in the main site WODs? What is the micro/macro programming that is implemented into main site WODs?

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

So where is the line, Alex? What is the exact % of movements that I need to randomize in order for my program to be CF?
if I add another conditioning workout and increase the time doamin to...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

I'm not sure I understand the distinction. please elaborate.
Where is the line? What program isn't CF? is any program CF if I throw in a varied 3-5 minute conditioning workout after my last workout...

Re: Since You Guys Are Always Wondering About Sport Carry-Over

Bingo, try this scenerio:

Take two "identical twins" that don't have any sports background. They are novices at everything.
The first one gets to do main site WODs with scaling of course cuz he is...

Re: Paleo Ketosis

Mike, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the ketosticks. You might be well into ketosis (defined as having high levels of ketone bodies in your blood - hyperketonemia) without excreting ketones in...

My only excuse is that I read the whole 18 pages of "is crossfit right about fitness?" thread just before this thread. Though I have to say that Josh Briggs came with a great post at the...

Re: bad @ math, can you calc. F/O for me?

3 grams of EPA+DHA sounds good. Are you planning to ramp to 7 grams of EPA+DHA? That is a lot of fish oil. Unless you have a specific condition that you are trying to fix with fish oil, I would think...
