Re: 750 lbs deadlift

Arden, thanks for your feedback. I have only been to two affiliates and was just curious if others outside of my small sample group have observed the large deadlifts claims with only MP programming....

Re: 750 lbs deadlift

Quick search didn't turn up answers to my specific question. I didn't think my post came off as a "debate" or antagonism, just simple curiosity. I didn't know if this achievement was met with...

750 lbs deadlift

How many crossfitters make it to ~600 LBS deadlift at around the 2 year mark? Glassman is quoted as saying:

Just curious as to how often that happens. Is this accomplished with the mainpage WOD...

Re: Hypertrophy with CFFB

Aggressive for whom? For a novice, it's effective programming since by definition you can recover and "supercompensate" by the next workout. Linear progression does not work past the novice stage...

Re: Is wearing a weight belt bad?

Lame and irrelevant. You can lift more with the belt. Lifting more makes you stronger. Therefore, the belt is useful.

Side note: as your lifts with the belt increase, so do your lifts without the...

Re: Potential Problem with "Area under the curve"

David,

Interesting you bring this up. I was having similiar thoughts while watching him address the Marines.

Perhaps the power model need not be completely trashed. With any given workout, the...

Re: Weight Belts?

You have heard incorrectly. You do not "take your stabilizers out of the equation".

There is more to the belt than the "mechanical support" it provides. The proprioceptive feedback you get from...

Re: CrossFit Did Not Prepare Me For This....

I feel where the OP is coming from. I had unrealistic expectations of CF thinking it would prepare me for humping up and down hills in gear without any sort of "specific" training. I have since...

Re: What is a "sport"?

The flag in capture the flag would not be a "finish line" but more akin to a touchdown in football. At least the way I played it back in junior high or grade school or whatever. After the flag was...

Re: 11b/ranger school

Hahah, none taken man, I'm just playin' around.

I have been fortunate as well to have some very good senior NCO mentorship, my father being one of them.

Re: 11b/ranger school

Carl,

Just some friendly advice that will help you on both this forum, the military, or in any future civillian career. Take the time to use proper (or at least half-way decent) punctuation and...

Re: CrossFit Games Qualifier Observations

Joe, well constructed argument. You really have kept to the high road and logical tact despite personal attacks and defensive comments.

It is unfortunate for Anthony and Jodi that things turned out...

Re: pistol shopping

Just offering another option for pistol (or firearms in general) "training". Join a local USPSA (US practical shooting association) group. You will get very good at handling your firearm and...

I'll say only this then I will respect the mods request to not add political comments to the posts. I'm all for law abiding citzens protecting themselves, but of 57 people who have died this year...

Re: Tax on soft drinks to blunt the obesity epidemic?

Although similiar, there is an important philosophical difference between reducing/eliminating tarrifs/subsidies and taxing a consumer item. You guessed it, getting rid of tarrifs or subsidies is...

Re: starting strength + pull ups?

Flawed? I'll write Rip to make sure this horrendous flaw is removed from PP4ST 2nd ed.

I will agree with the others as far as true novice programming. Just do the vanilla SS protocol for awhile. ...

Congrats on your purchase! Seems I'm a bit late but I just wanted to recommend the S&W M&P (insert caliber of choice here). I don't like the slight angle/cant of the Glock although I think they are...

Re: Tax on soft drinks to blunt the obesity epidemic?

Jamie and Robert,

I do see where you're coming from. I agree, we (Americans) need to take ownership of our actions. In no way am I contesting that point seeing as our reckless behavior has left us...

Re: starting strength + pull ups?

Can't find my copy of SS (packed away right now) but on page 155 of Practical Programming (definately get that book as well) we have a summary of the "starting strength model". It is a permutation...

Re: Tax on soft drinks to blunt the obesity epidemic?

Forbidding us from skydiving could be regarded as promoting the General Welfare. Perhaps we should have them enumerate everything we can and cannot do since we are obviously incapable without their...

Re: Tax on soft drinks to blunt the obesity epidemic?

As good 'ol Jefferson said, "Information is the currency of Democracy". If information is the currency then critical thinking is most certainly the Central Bank of Democracy!

Thankfully we have...
