I love the simplicity of this rig, but I thought the same thing as Shawn. My fear would be the wood "ripping" where the holes are drilled close together in line with the wood grain.

Chris, I had the same thought on hanging a rope and making the standard head-to-ceiling. My reach is about 18" above my head so it still wouldn't be quite the same as a 15' rope.

A nicer bar has definitely been on my mind. I have a set of dumbbell handles that I can put steel plates on and a bunch of 10 lb steel plates. I've been using them to make 55 and 70 lb DBs in place...

Quick update: it's 1 here in southern PA this morning and this heater is keeping the 21'x22'x12' garage at 65 on the low setting.
