Competition PED's question

Been lurking for a long time after joining but decided to start participating on the forum more.

I have a question about Peformance enhancing drugs that may have been answered before, but maybe not.

I was just having random thoughts last night and was thinking about the masters division in crossfit competition.

If a man has been clinically diagnosed with low testosterone and has been prescribed testosterone injections or maybe even a gel, how does crossfit treat that as far as the ped testing goes?

Is it still against the rules?

Jimmy that's a good question...

If that was me and I knew I could reach regionals and possibly the games I would contact CF HQ.

I suppose if you go from low level to normal testosterone levels then there should not be a problem, but if you are above normal then you would have a problem.

The testosterone type should not be on the WADA list of prohibited substances.

Ten four. I dont have anything to worry about as far as getting that far in (at this time) but never know going forward.

I personally take 400/mg a month of test cyp, which I am sure is on the banned list, however blood test shows it raised my level from 160 to 229. With normal ranges 800-1200.

Was really just thinking after I listedned to the Dan Bailey podcast and the subject came up

They changed the rules in 2016 (I believe). If you are taking any kind of hormone replacement your aren't allowed to compete.

The very first paragraph of the rulebook states:

"Even the legal use of banned substances, such as physician-prescribed hormone
replacement therapy, has the potential to compromise the integrity of the competition and must be disallowed."
