My mother is about to turn 60. She has always been a very active woman and did aerobics and a lot of walking for many years as well as chasing after and keeping track of two boys and now a granddaughter.
She has been having a little trouble keeping active lately. A little trouble with the hip, a little of this, and a little of that.
I've seen some of the Crossfit for seniors articles so when my mom talks about starting up walking more again, I think, sure it is better than nothing, but why not seniorized version of Crossfit?
Well, she says anytime that she overdoes it anymore that she ends up with quite a bit of blood in her urine.
I'm thinking, whoa, that doesn't sound right! She said it has been that way ever since she had a histerectomy, bladder tuck and rectal tuck.
And her doctor at the time, a kidney specialists, told her that she should'nt lift over 25 pounds. Ever. It has been about 15 years since she had the operation.
The blood in her urine goes away after a day or two of rest. If she has to do any lifting, she wears a safety built and that tends to allow her to do more without causing problems.
I'm trying to figure out if this is a done deal, no more than 25 #s of weight for the rest of her life, or if there is someone else that we need to be talking to.
Any advice would be appreciated.
