Milt's Log II
 
Its been a minute....

A lot has happened since my last post here. A lot! I had a career in oil and gas project management, so things have been rocky for the past year and a half. So now I am in the midst of a career change and I am working on a degree in economics. Only working off-and-on for the last 18 months has meant more time with my family, so some good has come of things.

Now, I am starting to get more focused on who I am. School is good, back at work, just went to Hawaii. Life is starting to turn around!

So its time to get back to the gym. I had started a blog to track progress, but I never felt as accountable to myself with that as I did here, hence the new log.

For the first time in years I have gotten used to not going to the gym, finally pushed myself back tonight!

1/2 mile treadmill: no rush

Deadlift:
135# x 7
185 x 5
225 x 2
255 x 3, 255 x 3, 255 x 3, 255 x 3, 255 x 3 - all reps fast, no trouble with any of it.

Push-press:
95# x 6 (strict)
115 x 4 (strict)
145 x 4
155 x 5, 160 x 5, 135 x 8

Pull-ups: 5 x 3 - good sign that I can still do strict pull-ups.

Just got a new pair of Nano 5's today. Really good fit, comfort. I had been using Nano 2's since 2012(?), so, aside from my lifters, this is the first time Ive worked out in a new shoe in years!

Its a great feeling to be moving again!

Not making it to the gym today, but I am doing a full-scale landscaping project at home and I spent a couple of hard hours on that today. Got at least the workout I would have had at the gym....

warmed up with a mile on the treadmill and some stretching.

Back squat:
135# x 6
185 x 4
205 x 2
225 x 5, 225 x 5, 235 x 5 - working sets should never be below 225, Not sure what I was thinking last time out...

Bench press:
115# x 7
145 x 4
155 x 3, 155 x 3, 165 x 3, 175 x 3, 185 x 3

Pull-ups: 4 x 4

Feeling stronger.

Warm-up was a 1/2 mile on the treadmill, some lower body mobility and a few double-unders

Workout:
60 Double-unders
50 kettlebell swings @ 24kg
40 calorie row
30 push-ups
20 back squats @ 165#
10 dead lifts @ 225#
Untimed, done - kept a brisk pace and high intensity throughout.

My warm-up is my workout....?:D

Also, just for fun...

I had posted some videos of the weightlifting PRs I had hit in the past year-and-a-half, linked to the blog I was keeping. Since I am taking the blog down, and deleting the posts, I figured here would be a good place to post the links. I like to have this sort of thing all in one place.

190# snatch - a miss and a make

210# snatch - hit this at a seminar that my old gym (CF AI) held with Klovov.

220# snatch - this is me joining the 100-kilo snatch club!

270# clean - at the time I had been chasing this weight for a while.

Weightlifting is kind of out of the question for now - other than a few light power cleans, perhaps - but will continue to rebuild strength for the foreseeable future.

It is nice to see you back on here posting.......

I would occasionally check out the blog. Glad to hear that re-education is going well. I wish you nothing but success in the gym and in life.

1/2 mile treadmill for warm-up

5 minute row: 1216m/76cal - not great...

Squat 3-3-3-3-3
135# x 5
155 x 7
205 x 4
225 x 2
235 x 3, 245 x 3, 265 x 3, 275 x 4, 225 x 8 - good weight, extra reps. I dont have to ease into this rebuild as much as I think!

Dips: 3 sets of 8

Havent made it to the gym in a couple of weeks! Tough working full-time, being a full-time student and being a dad and husband....

Excuses. Will be back at it ASAP!

Still not getting to the gym....

I did finish up a major landscaping project at home this weekend, though. The culmination was a cubic yard of gravel I had to deal with.....it was about 2,800lb I had to hump around my yard!
